  1. I've seen several people here refer to "the manual" Now, when I bought my game I didn't get a manual - I got a small booklet giving the basic commands and some hot keys but nothing else. In fact the CDV booklet advertising their other games actually had more pages than the game booklet. So should I have received something a bit more substantial ?

Not a moan or a whinge as I've got both previous games and knew how to play...not to mention the fact that my copy cost £19.99 rather than the usual £30-40 that some games cost. I'm just curious is all.

  2. It's a minor thing ( all things considered ) but what I would like to see would be:

A different way of handling the availability of panzerfausts, gammon bombs, rifle grenades etc.

Instead of having certain weapons (like the ones mentioned above ) allocated to specific units you could have optional weapon 'slots' for infantry units - maybe 2 or 3 slots per unit and then a pool of optional weapons from which you would choose your weapons. For example a german infantry unit could have three optional weapons slots and then the player could choose from any of the following

    rifle grenades

    panzerfausts

    magnetic mines

    molatovs

    satchel charges

    grenade bundles

etcetc. By all means have default settings for individual countries or units, but allow the player to change these via the edit unit option. So if you were designing a scenario and you knew that the unit didn't have rifle grenades but did have magnetic mines/sticky mines you could reflect this in your choice of optional weapons. This would allow greater flexibility ( and hopefully greater historical accuracy and fun )

They're sort of half way there already so this would seem a logical next step. Like I said a minor thing but I would like to see it

  3. Not a bug but a patch request: increased availability of Italian equipment for German units after the Italian surrender. Specifically Italian armour - we get the M15/42, but it seems to me that others need to be included as well

    M 13/40 AND M14/41

" These tanks were issued to two SS Sturmgeschutz detachments and also to Panzerabteilung Adria. On 30 December 1944 there were 68 tanks of the M13/40, M14/41 and M15/42 still in service with German units."

    SEMOVENTE M40 AND M41

" A total of 294 Stug M42 were issued to German units in 1943 and 1944. On 31 December 1943, 191 were in service with six infantry divisions, two panzer divisions three panzergrenadier divisions and one jager division of army groups C and F in Italy and the Balkans. By 30 December 1944, despite new deliveries, that number had been reduced to 93 as a result of battle losses."

    SEMOVENTE M43 MIT 105/25

"On 31 December 1943, twenty seven Stug M43 mit 105/25 were in service with the 336th infantry division and the 26th panzer division, in Italy. By 30 December 1944, 66 were still in service with army groups C and F in Italy and the Balkans."

    SEMOVENTE M43 MIT 75/34 AND 75/46

"Used in Italy in late 1944 and early 1945"

    AB41

"Used by German forces in Italy and the Balkans. A considerable number were issued to RSI units "

The forces available in the unit editor don't seem to really reflect the availability and issue of captured Italian armour to german units. Certainly the M42 and M43 seem to have seen pretty widespread service. Ok you're going to have to assign rarity values and this may prove problematic, but surely between us lot here we can find enough sources to get a reasonable idea of what was available when? I just think it would add more flavour to the game if this issue could be looked at and adjusted ( ie more fun :D )

  4. Apologies if these have been posted already:

British vickers teams appear to be armed with Browning M1917

The same model has been used for the Staghound AA and the Morris C9/B (despite the fact that one has a 40mm bofors :D )

The British 20mm Oerlikon appears to be exactly the same 3D model as the German 20mm flak - ok very similiar guns but the mountings were different

aren't playtesters meant to find these things ?

Schiffer have got a book available about the Flak towers... part of the Schiffer military series, about 48 pages each and mainly photo essays with some supporting text, hell you know that already but the flak towers one is a bit unusual. Apparently the Austrian army still use the Vienna flak towers as depots and for storage etc

  7. I did search but it kept disconnecting me... :(

Anyway tho' I suspect this has already been asked... will there be cavalry in CMBB. As far as I know all combatants except the Finns and possibly germans fielded cavalry divisions eg with horses ( proper cavalry divisions :D )ok maybe they weren't so great but they were what folks had and something is better than nothing.

So are they in the game? I suspect not , they would be a nightmare to model and programme, at least I would imagine so. Shame if they're not, as they were a pretty major part of the military machine at the start of the campaign for some countries, but I can understand why they may not be.

Answers on a post card to this BB please....

    Will there be ferries ?

If so, do everyone a favor and post it :D

Sadly no photos of said lass, but I know exactly what you mean... excellent legs :D
  10. I noticed in the support weapons section for the german forces that 50mm mortars are available... yet when you buy stuff from the infantry menu eg infantry Co, HW platoon etc they never appear. 81mm yes, sometimes 120mm but never 50mm.

So my question is: how were they employed? as special mortar units?, only with certain formations or what? Logically going by the size you'd think they would perform the same function as the 2" and 60mm mortars for the allies, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
