Something, mortars, arty, had to have set that brush on fire. I've never seen a hot exhaust start a fire in CM.

Restart your playback movie, zoom in very close, try this from all angles you'll see something/someone trying to take out your Matildas.

Generally, I would like to praise your initiative to upload all these great mods. I´m sucking everyone like a dry spoon. Keep it going. My sincer appreciation! smile.gif

Maybe I should not forget to praise the original authors too... ;)

    Gurra,

Any missing bumps in some of the Mr. Noobie files would have nothing to do with Astrocat. I have forwarded what files I had left remaining in my mod file to him, what remains of them I certainly don't know, nor would Astrocat. If I didn't think I'd ever use a particular version of a mod sometimes I'd delete those particular bmps., sometimes I wouldn't, and I cannot remember which ones have been butchered.

And as Astrocat has pointed out, these files have no author identification, we are *guessing* they were from Mr. Noobie.

    Sounds hopeful.

2 questions 1) is it about 5.5MB in size

    2) is there a pic in the zip that shows a summer T34, a whitewash T34 & a snow covered T34.

If so its the one. You can either send to AstroCat who will post or post yourself at www.cmmods.com under the section that says 'Add a CMBB Mod.'

Thanks for helping out smile.gif </font>

    Thanks smile.gif

About a month ago I purchased a DVD drive, every time I put a disk in it, it spins for ages and I give up and crash it., I have followed all instructions from the shop where I purchased the drive and they tell me this is common. I have checked this with friends and this does seem to be a problem with DVD drives and some others.

(Maybe why not many games come out on DVD?)

So I really do not want another one of these.

My trusty old one seems to work fine apart from the noise, so I would like to go with a normal CD drive if possible. For the price I do not want to muck around with a DVD drive as I think these things should either work straight out of the box or chuck it.

    Any help would be appreciated

My Lite-On cd works just fine.

Go here for a reference, cheap and dependable.

    Carl,

It's that blue line that I'm trying to improve upon....thanks for confirming my thoughts.

  7. Having played CMBB now for the full year I'm considering upgrading either my CPU(P4 1.6 toP4 2.4) or my vid card(MSI G3 Ti200w/128MB to G4 Ti4200). Which will give me the most bang for my buck for playing CM? I'm thinking it's the CPU, but then again I have difficulty useing my new cell phone, which I hate BTW. smile.gif

FTR, I'm not interested in playing Half-Life or any of the more demanding games.

Thanks in advance for any replies

This happened to me in a recent PBEM.

My T-34 was "gun damaged" by an errant mortar round, I was able to use the hull MG only after that. I don't necessarily see this as *gamey*!

This was the only AFV provided by the designer, and it was in a *life or death* situation. I'd call this real life drama rather than gamey.

Not to discourage you but the SB Audigy 2 works fine for me.

I had to get my speaker/digital/analogue combination set right, which was a little confusing, but if your other games are playing fine....I'm lost( shrug )

Wait a minute...are you using XP? When I first installed XP I clicked the compatability button to Win98 and the sound was messed up, after going back and unclicking all was fine. Hope I helped.

    CPU P4 2533

    RAM DIMM 512

    OS W98SE

    Syncmaster 161T res. 1260x1024

When playing the game whith the onboard soundcard there is no problem. Whith Audigy2 the game starts just fine and playing the intro, and a few turns could work out just fine, but when coming to heavier sound effect, like artillery detonations, or in bigger scenarios the sound dissapears totally. Leaving the game and checking with DX9.0 there is no problem with Direct Sound. The game works fine at my other computers, a laptop and a desktop with Soundblaster Live5.1. When testing Onboard SC, I removed the Audigy2 and its components. When testing Audigy2 I formatted, disabled onboard sound in BIOS and made a new installation of OS and drivers.

My other games facing no problems, so this is just related to CMBB.

Please, any suggestions or help is more than welcome!

Try turning EAX off for CM.

    Tks in advance

I'm useing 'em with my G3 Ti200 and it seems to be running smoothly, even though Windows cautioned me not to. I see others are useing 'em with their G4's with good results.

Please help... I am computer illiterate.

    Thanks,

    Stingray;

Maybe you can find something in here .

I've loaded the 44.03 and it is working well with my GForce3 Ti200(even though XP cautioned me not to). Yours I'm not so sure. If your very PC challanged I'd be very cautious, sometimes it is hard to backup, wait, are you running XP? if so, it's very easy to start over.

    Luck,

88mm is right on, just make sure the vid card is set to 4XAGP, this seems to help, oh, and get those new drivers Matt talks about and you should be up and running.

KC, is that what you meant?

    Ahhh..I'm not sure.

What I meant was; when playing against the AI, it now seems to remember where it was attacked from. As an example I gave the scenario Hornets Nest. I found that if I used the *shoot and scoot* command for a Nashhorn, i.e. up to the top of the ridge, duck back down and went back up to the same locale that by the 3rd time there was several enemy tanks waiting for me. If, on the other hand I got away with this a couple of times with one I had on the far left of the ridge and left him out of sight, but brought the far right up, it would take at least a couple of turns for these tanks to have me sighted in, but, when I brought the first one back up after 3-4 turns, the Allies would take a couple of turns to return its focus and so on.

    Clear as mud? smile.gif

Are you sure? One of the major complaints in CMBO was that the AI suffered from an incurable case of "out of sight, out of mind" (go to the forum archives and search on "Villers-Bocage," "turret," and "why." ;) ). If this has changed in CMBB, I missed the fanfare. </font>

err,....after reading your profile I'm guessing that I should be deferring to your expertise...

  17. Monkey Boy,

Welcome to CM....be prepared to lose a lot of your time(I couldn't say waste ;) ) playing this addiction.

    To answer your questions;

1)No, but the version your asking for is on its way, CMAK or Combat Mission Africa/Italy

2)In CMBO there isn't, in CMBB, as pointed out, there is.

3)CMAK is due in fall '03, CM 2 (or is it 3?) will be a completely new engine, bigger, better, faster is due next year. There will be no fantasy editons, BFC has stated that they are about WWII and reality....that's it.

    4) well there has been lot's of suggestions as to how to improve upon the actual interface but to date, this is it. BFC are champions when it comes to listening to their paying customers whine and often times when we are right they have made the changes, great game/great company.

Again welcome aboard and good hunting,

I'm in hulls down position within 1000 meters and whenever i use shoot & scoot the tanks are taken out pretty quickly. Other tanks firing from about 1300 meters are having the same amount of luck. Is like we are wholly inaccurate in every way. Any tips?

Are you sure your PIII's are not hitting the T-34's? Sounds like your in that window where/when Russia had the German's outgunned. What version are you playing? It's highly unlikely, but watch where your rounds are hitting, in the early(pre-patch) release the were certain situations where your AFV's would send round after round into the crest just in front of them.....and then there some days when your guys just can't hit a thing. :D Those are bad days!
