  1. Lol, did you guys read what he said about the 20mm FLAK? He said it has a graphics problem: When you zoom out away from it, it looks like it's getting bigger.

I guess this guy has visual scale on default, yet it's interesting how he hasn't noticed that every OTHER unit in the game ALSO gets bigger as you zoom out. The only explanation is that he's old, and he probably wears thick rugged glasses.

BTS should seriously consider putting Visual scale to realistic in the next game because people new to CM probably scratch their heads once they notice their units getting bigger.

  2. Oh crap, you have a "bunch" of images, I see. Well that changes things a bit.

Yeah, try to get that free FTP, but if you want you can send me a few images that you want to post now. I'm running 56k which is a bitnatch to upload with, and the downloading isn't peaches either.

Since you're using AOL, make sure the images are converted to .jpg. You can do this by going to paint and saving them in that format.

  3. GWDWD, send the pics to AnonymousOxide@ownmail.com, and I'll post them on my FTP. Once on my FTP you can link to em, and post them anywhere.

For example, the battlefront.com logo up top is a .jpg that is saved on BTS's ftp. Go ahead and right click it and hit properties, you'll see the address URL: http://www.battlefront.com/images/nav/topnav.jpg

So now that I know the address URL, the only thing I need to do is copy and paste it here on this forum (or another place if you desire), and put at the beginning, and at the end which are UBB tags. [example below]

    topnav.jpg

Also, if you press the URL button next to the smilies when you're typing a message on this forum, you are able to create a clickable word or words that links to the desired image. Just add the above URL into the first space, and a word (or words) in the next space that will link to the image. [example below]

    Power of cheese.

  4. I just got done with cemetary hill (got a draw), and on the second to the last turn, my pioneer squad decides to throw a demo charge in between two buildings (which both contain friendly soldiers) to clear a mine field.

You can assess the situation for yourself:

    explosion.JPG

Essentially the Pio squad nearly killed about 5 persons, luckily even though BOTH buildings callapsed, I only suffered 2 casualties. Then again, I have about 10-15 fighting men left on the battlefield.

This is an AI issue, and possibly a bug.

Yeah, I missed the part where you said you had 256mb, that's actually the minimum (that I recommend) for gaming these days. I'm running 512, and like Diceman said, you'll take a performance hit since CM is very ram dependant.
  6. Now that we're on the subject, how does one convert a low-res mod to high-res? I take it perhaps once you've made the mod low-res (which is what the stock CMBB mods are), there is no way to "up" the detail? Perhaps this has something to do with the PPI (pixels per inch) setting in EDIT>IMAGE SIZE?

    To the original poster:

CMBO had some really impressive high-res mods. I mean these things would range from 5-10MB per one vehicle mod, it varies depending on the extra content. Right now CMBB mods are the standard res and they are 1-3 MB, usually in-between.

Right now all the mods that have been released are the standard res, so download to your hearts content since you wont suffer any performance change. And from what you're running, I see no reason why you wont be able to run high-res mods when they get released. I'm running the older AMD Tbird 1.4, and all the scenerios run fine execpt for those rediculous ones (like Clash of the Titans) that require a super computer.

All this was, I believe, posted from Madmatt. A search on his member # might turn it up.

Get lucky? I hope next time I will be informed when buying unfinished product. It would be only fair.

You dont buys unfinished shoes from shop either do you?

I am very disappointed if BTS wont include models they left out as patches.</font>

Awesome, I'll make sure to DL it since Dorosh doesn't have his for download.

Now, does anyone know where to find the other thing I need? It's release was announced here a few weeks ago, the mod is basically a neon multipule colored texture with writting that shows how textures will bend, and how they will stack on top of the tank.

  9. I like the new system... no I love it. My HMG's and even LMG's pose a huge risk to on-coming infantry. My enemy can no longer move a platoon of soldiers towards my foxholes in open ground and expand 2 squads, at the least, to make it to the forest.

But yeah, I dig what you people are saying, and I would be more than open to BTS including a "semi-realistic" CMBO infantry mode option in future games for the peeps who just want to have some fun.

In CMBB, you can't make progress with you troops if you don't have a good plan, and that's where I fumble sometimes too. -My generic military strategies will break on occassion.
