Ok, i played swamp. I got my butt kicked, but i did surrender early, i had to go. But then, they called back and cancelled so i could have played more. Anyway, i bought a churchill and two m4's, one vet. And four vet british AB and 3 reg. And one 4.2 inch mortar. He bought seven 45 ss rifle squads, 2 vet, six reg. A jgz 70 (or whatever its called and a stuh. I got him to commit a lot of infantry on my left with one platoon lost. My other six platoons crept around a ring of trees undetected, and my shermans in support. My churchill was also in support. Anyway all was good, (my infantry are much stronger then his) but they suddenly opened fire on a distand enemy, giving away their position. Of course swamp brought in his infantry and arty fell. Because I was concentrating on destroying his tank that crested the ridge, i did not move my infantry out of the way, one they gave away their position. Then his arty fell and it was over. Big stuff, a lot of tree bursts. He rushed in some infantry to finish the job. My plan was good, swamp agrees, but I did not move fast enought, damnit. Oh, well i wont be so intimidated next time. It was 94 to 6 i believe. That damn arty. I could have had him.

I was playing a good tcp/ip game last night. Everything was going to plan, my opponent avoided my mine field with is main force and placed it (infantry, a hell of a lot of infantry) in a small valley. I then moved my FO's into position through dense woods on the perimeter of the valley. They were instantly spotted and killed. They were picked out and targeted like a naked, homosexual democrat stem cell research scientist who preforms abortions and believes in taxes at a repbulican NRA convention. (Ouch that was cold, but hey republicans admit it, your cold harted bastards sometimes, you have any idea how many good people are going to die because they cant perform all the research needed on stem cells?) Anyway, do FO's get spotted really easily? Whats up with this? Also, i just played a night fight , and when I sent in two companies into a small town , they were up against maybe a company of germans, and all but two squads routed, whats up with that? they were british airborne, tough sob's.

In World War II how did an infantry division advance against armor or against heavy armored divisions. I understand they had tank destroyers attached but how many? What gave the infantry division its punch? Were the armor divisions used with the infantry divisions in an advance or used seperatly. Let me know your thoughts.

Has anyone here been totaly wiped out by an artillary barrage? Has your front line ever crumbled so badly that you were ruined? Share some of your arty stories with me, I would appreciate that. Nothing scares me more then a madman with a lot of arty.

I am playing a guy PBEM and I set up all my units expertly, I cant say how, or what, we havnt even done the first turn yet. However, when planning a defense do you guys (the expert players) plan for everything. A flank attack, tank rush, infantry rush and heavy arty? Do you defend the whole map? Let me know some of your deepest secrets, and I will let you know some of mine. Lets get a good defense chat going here. Besides spreading out your infantry, there is nothing you can do to stop a 240mm with an 81mm mortar barrage. Ouch, that hursts just to type it. Arty should be more expensive, as it is the king of the battlefield.

how do I save it as a hotmail attachement. I see all the letters of the file, and I highlight it, but then what do I do?

Warren sent me an email setup program to my Patton21@hotmail.com account (Cos thats my email) I looked at the email and saw the attached file.txt I clicked "save as" then downloaded it to the PBEM section of CM. I then went to the game and tried to open it. When I find the file and click open, I get the "error" sound in windows. Nothing happens. Can someone walk me through the whole process as if I were an idiot. Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. And come on guys, grow up, stop teasing me, and act like men. Tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here obedient to their laws we lie. If you can explain to me what that means, I will forever think of you as my friend. :confused:

I find that using all your forces together works great. People have a tendancy to leave behind their machine guns and 60mm's because they are too slow. If you advance with them all and set up good firing positions with your infantry, mortars, and 60's you can really wipe out enemy infantry. Dont forget to carefully move up armor with your infantry incase those pesky germans have heavy tanks or even medium tanks. I just played a battle in which the AI bought six 20mm flak cannans. Scared the hell out of me when I saw six sounds contacts of anti-tank guns. Anyway, I have not yet lost an assault or a defense. Im looking forward to playing a real man, or women (im not sexest). However, I dont want to play people on maps they have already played, that would not be fair. It must be a neutral map. I signed up at band of brothers and for the upcoming newbie tournament. Im looking forward to some fun guys. And when I win, I'll throw your snyied comments back at you. Good night gentlemen. :cool:

I finaly got only a minor victory, I was careless with my armor and two tigers, one panther, two MKIV's, and one King Tiger showed up, they hurt me, but then I charged them with a Chafee, which confused them and I jamed the Tigers gun with my own tank and shot the hell out of the King Tiger right next to me(he could not traverse his gun through the tiger) and I totaly destroyed two tigers, one K. tiger and one MKIV. Does it get any better? However, they got my pershings I left in the road. I signed up for the tournament, and Im looking forward to some nice ass kicking. What else have I got to do, I dont wont to go back to work yet. How long does a pbem game take, like three months? And any hotshot out there, who is good, let me know, because I will bust you up. Combined arms, overlapping fields of fire, this is the game I was always meant to play. Damn, Im just like patton, casualties for victories.

dont get me wrong guys, im not complaining about the AI, i love the AI, its my bud. Yes, its much better then any other game, but were so close to perfection, Im just trying to get some explenations. Geez guys, dont jump on everyone all the time. Lets all be friends and sing songs. Then we can bash eachother.

I have played many battles in CM. I am expert in setting up interlocking fields of fire, proper support and counter-offensive units. No one can break my defense, except for some damn 240mm arty which busted a whole right through my line. First of all, that type of arty was hardly ever used in battalion level engagements and second, thats damn annoying. Anyway, I seldom have any trouble whiping the AI and performing a WWF smackdown. Does the AI learn? In my battles it has not. Though the AI acts very bravely, they seldom flank me, or use good combined arms or set up co-ordinated strikes. Also, the machine guns fire way to slow. One short burst then six second pause. Whats going on with this? :mad:

My apologies, I wanted to check if Mad Matt or BTS actually supervised this board. I am very impressed that this is such a high quality board. Now to combat mission. Ive noticed that most of the shermans have the same weaponery. the M4 seems to be the same as the M4A1 and the M4A3. Is there a differene between them? And hold on Mad Matt, let me just say this. My wife just died so this forum is all that I have to escape the hell at home. Nobody to talk to or laugh with. Having fun on the forum is all im trying to do. I'll restrict my comments to tanks or something next time, as this is a forum of such great importance. My apologies.
