The only games that have been on my HD ( and played almost daly) until the new version comes along are CMBO then CMBB and MSFS 2000 then MSFS 2002.......
Right now I am trying GI Combat.
A lot of fun but just dosen’t have the depth of Combat Mission series.....

wasn’t the sneak command in CMBO a slow and careful ! move ..
didn’t ware one out just made them a bit slower and a bit harder to detect....
What was wrong with that???

You could always download the demo for CMBO,
it does a great job of showing what the game is all about ,
I still replay the CMBO demo missions once in awile.
(unlike the CMBB demo)

Good idea, an you can also use (ctrl, alt, delete,
to weed out the other programs) and yes there are a few programs that will run in the background and are not found in msconfig.......

When I shut it down this morning I still had problems. OK what did you guys do
send in the fix it weazels???
I have no idea what happened , my guess is one of the driver changes I made helped , but when I got home after work and fired up the game , it worked just fine, no screen flashing ,no freeze up ,works as advertized.
I am thrilled !!!!! and thanks once again for the replys Schrullenhaft

thanks for the reply
I am using 30.82 win me drivers for my G-force 3
card. I was using the 28.32 drivers . Dosn't
seem to make a diff.
Also I uninstalled the old drivers first...
I do have the 4 in 1 set up running, I will try the latest drivers next thanks for the Idea..
also late last night I loaded the game on my back-up system and it runs fine (although real slow)
I have a geforce mx 400 in that system so I don't think is has to do with the video card.
could be my monitor, I will check that after the 4 in 1 driver update.
some time later;
Now I have all new drivers at least all the ones I can think of still the same problem......
One other thing i have noticed that when the screen starts to flash ,and i move around the map view 1234 the trees just infront of me disappear...
The flashing, some of it anyway looks like single trees and troops flashing on and off.
any Ideas
thanks again

OS; win ME
AMD 1.4 T bird
ASUS A7V 133 MB
256 megs pc133 ram
geforce 3 ti 200 video card
sound blaster live , sound card
40 gig 7,200 RPM maxtor HD
I think I have all the latest Drivers .
(now) I was running the 28.32 Nividia video
drivers , but had flashing on the screen
so I down loaded the latest drivers
from Nividia. Now the system locks up
after a few turns.
( it might have lock up before but I just went
for new drivers after seeing the flashing
after the first turn. so maybe I did not give
it enough time to.) screen flashes and after
a few turns then looks like it Locks up...........
And yes I defraged , ETC .... before I installed
and Yes I did a Reinstall.
{a few hours later.......
I find the game playes OK well at least it dose
not lock up , if I keep the screen set to 1,2,3,4 keys. 5 or above causes flashing and screen seems to lock. At this point I can save the game ,quit , and restart to were I left off...}

My back-up system is a AMD 550 with 128 megs of ram and a geforce mx 400 with 64 megs of ram.
its taking an average of 19 seconds think time on the yelena stare mission , and the graphics during game play look smooth to me , but as I have said before ,wile playing Combat Mission I have no other programs running in the background.
I think this helps.....

Another thing that will slow the system down ,
is all the programs running in the background.
The only ones you need to run with Combat mission is explorer and systray the rest you can shut down while you play. Try hitting ctrl-alt-delete to see how many are running.
Unless your running XP.......

I have checked out the demo Yelina stare , first three turns as the germans , and I get an average of 11 seconds on my AMD 1.4 system (256 mem pc133) geforce 3 ti 200 video card (124 meg DDR), and 19sec for the system to “think” , on my 550 AMD Irongate powered system (Geforce MX 400 64 meg video card)...
note :
I run NO programs in the background....... could this make that much of a dif......
what do you think??
need to waste some time till The Game arrives.........

I was wondering if the 8 k. , L l cache on the
p-4 prosseser would be a problem with this game. looks like it might...........
I have a AMD 1.4 mghz with 256 of ram and thinking time on any of the demos for CMBB in about 10 sec. which seems fast enough for me.
anybody else want to check this out , I used the yelina stare mission to test the time.

If you don’t already know the games come with one of the best editors around , you can make just about any battle one can imagine all kinds of ammo loads, weapon types ,tank types ,terrain set-ups ,etc...
and it is REALY easy to use...

Most often ,even today with CMBO,
I play premade scenarios, the QBs are
fun but there seems to be a sameness (is that
a word) to them.
so I am sure it will be a few of the scenarios
first.
also I would realy like to try a PBEM , a small one or two see how the new stuff works, any one up for it ?

Check this out my boss is so cool he said
he would provide the beer and snacks for
the install party when CMBB arrives , and told
me not to show up unless I needed a break
from the game or my carpel tunnel flares up.
(probable the wrists will go first)

Thanks for the heads up on a nice web site with a bunch of good info , allot of us have
been playing these games (CMBO and CMBB) for a few years, and we forget it is
allot deferent then most other games out there. I guess that is why it is Always Ready
to run on our hard drives...
