  1. The M-18 is sweet, except for the fact that the open top makes it more vulnerable to infantry than normal. I hid on right along a trail that German armor was pouring across and from the close range, he knocked every one of their tanks and halftracks out before they figured out he was there. By then, the infantry started assaulting him, and its great speed got him out before things really got hot (by the way, fastest tank of all time, including modern ones).
  2. I have an interesting story in a created fictitious battle. I had a thick row of trees with mines meant to prevent German penetration, but somehow, one tank found a way through and everyone plowed in behind him. I thought I was in trouble, being that it would easily allow the Germans to flank my defenses, and I had only an M19 MG, one platoon of rifleman, and a Hellcat hidden away. They were supposed to just sneak in and hit the German rear later, but instead took on the entire force. In an amazing feat (but that's another story), the Hellcat main gun wiped out a Panther, PZ IV, armored Halftrack, and Hetzer while it's MG took out 5 or 6 infantry and about 6 fleeing tank crewmen. This accounted for all but one other halftrack, which was brewed up by my MG. This meant I had stopped the entire armor push on one of the two German attack directions. The MG picked off almost twenty other little buggers while the rifleman claimed an entire AT gun crew and 15 or 16 infantry at the same time. Since the battle isn't finished yet, tally's are still rising. That's why I don't know yet how many people have been killed by my quickly called off-map artillery strikes. They have nailed dozens of troops. I would geuss all together, around between 70 and 80 troops in a small spot of ground.
  3. My vote for most overrated of WWII goes to MacArthur or Montgomery. I disagree with Patton, however, as in many situations where the Allies used plans other than Patton's, they lost more men then they would have using his plans (studies of the strategies during WWII, such as during the retaking of France, seem to show that we should have listened to Patton). Plus, he was the only one prepared to counter-attack the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. Sure he was a dick and he was cocky, but I think he was good. Plus, he help father the armor tactics and philosophy in America in WWII.
  4. Just a simple suggestion. How about an option to adjust how long the video play time is per turn in CM2. I'm quite happy with the 60-second video play, but some people may prefer an easier, more responsive 15 or 30 second turn (the less time you have to plan for and give orders for, the easier it is to control soldiers). On the opposite end of the spectrum, some players might like the challenge of planning two-minute turns. I have no problem with the one-minute turns, but in some fast-paced, close quarters battles, a 30 second turn might be nice.
  5. Slim seems even more underated when taking into account Monty's bad calls and the fact that many feel he was way overrated (don't politics suck!).
  6. Hey, I have a quick question and was wondering if any of you guys had a good solution. I want to recreate a situation in which a couple light German tanks and infantry are escorting some cargo trucks. For the battle, I want to stage a Polish ambush in a wooded area. Now, I can design it no problem, but I do I set the German mentality to escort the trucks (seeing how I will be the Polish). Any good suggestions?
  7. Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll try those ideas And by the way, I realize that the boats are small, wooden rowboats. I just felt it would be pretty cool to watch a bunch of boats storm the beach, drop off troops, and see D-Day happen. What I did to counter-act the fact that they are small, slow boats was just put out a whole crapload of them. That way they drop off just as many troops on the beach. Plus, I was just using this scenario as an example of the potential of having water that is realistic instead of just impassible ground. Some splash affects would be pretty cool . Once again, thanks for the help
  8. I have some changes I would like to see made in CM2 (can't wait ) or, better yet, first in an upgrade of CM. The first is a small change. Now, I'm new to this forum, and someone else may have pointed these things out, so forgive me if they did. First, the grenades in the game seem kind of weak. For example, I watched about 20 US soldiers chucking grenades at 3 hiding MG 42 crewman and they, in return, threw grenades back. The 42 crew was just barely in a forested area. This went on for several turns without killing anyone and eventually the Germans surrendered. Of course, I also had a tank shooting a MG at them as well without effect. Either make grenades stronger or make the hiding troops more vulnerable. Second, and this is a big change. Please create realistic water. The water looks nice, but does not function like water. I tried using my Creator to recreate the D-Day invasion. It was great except for the fact that the 88 kept taking out boats without even hitting them. The shell would hit the water at a good distance away, explode like it hit land, and destroy the boat. What should have been just a splash became a deadly hit. This would greatly improve realism and make new scenarios possible. Plus, we could possibly make soldiers and tank plow through water up to a certain depth. Just a suggestion. Anyway, thanks for the great game just the same. Keep up the good work.
