I'm trying out my modding skills for the first time with the Jagdpanther. It's only in the early coloring stages at the moment, but I have Photoshop 6 to play with it. I'm trying to base it off the 1/25th scale model I have on my desk. I find many of the mods out there to be rather bright for my tastes, so I'm trying to make one with a DY base and thick green break-up webbing/patches on it. Anybody out there know how to do shadows well, because I'm having some problems with the hull fixtures.

While complaining to my opponent about the ineffectiveness of the 37mm gun on the H-39, I was reminded by him that the M-79 grenade is a 37mm shell. Think of one of those coming through the firing slit and banging around in a closed room.

You've also got to consider that the 2 or 3 MGs on that tin (the Stewart) can make life miserable for the pillbox crew.

But from 1000 meters it's impossible to put a shell through a firing slit with 2x sights. And HE shells do not bang around. They explode. But how can it kill a pillbox if the gun isn't damaged and none of the crew are hurt?

  3. To kill a pillbox don't you need to either kill or scare off the crew, damage the gun or set off ammunition? So how does a dinky little 37mm shell knockout a pillbox? I've frequently seen an entire crew escape with no casualties. Shouldn't it just say gun damaged? Because if its knocked out you can't ever use it. If it would just say gun damaged instead of knocked out you maybe could throw in another MG team because the protective structure is still intact. Or perhaps they could explode or burn to represent ammo going off.

I believe the Russians captured them all or at least one of them. It would be interesting to see on the battlefield though.

There was only two made but I believe they were both destroyed. The Russians got enough spare parts from the wreck to reassemble one tank though. It's currently housed in Kubinka. http://members.aol.com/kubinka/kubin3a.jpg

  5. Create a new folder in the CMBO folder titled Mods or something. Save all of your zips to there. Then when you unzip your files, all the .bmps go into the folder titled BMP. All .wav files go into the WAV folder. Unzip all scenarios and text files into the Scenarios folder, NOT Saved Games. They should all work then.

Obviously it is a kind of 'ethnic cleansing' of the board.

I have no problem accessing any of the BTS forums. BTS has deemed all of you to be 'not worthy' and has reserved the board for the exclusive use of the 'pure of heart'.

So, "neener, neener, neener" to all of you Newbies. tongue.gif

Sorry to spoil your cleansing but I have yet to have any login problems  .

AI vs AI shouldn't be a huge stretch of code, I wouldn't imagine, but partial AI partial human control would require a decent bit of development.

Partial AI control of your side could definitely make things interesting. It could model the difficulties of making different units coordinate their actions. That would be cool for the campaign that will never happen.

    Hi,

Does friendly fire (aside from mistaken air attacks) cause casualties to your own troops? I mean like smallarms if friendlies are in the line of fire.

Does having height advantage give any cover? How about infantry behind a crest, in a gully, etc. where only the upper half of their bodies is visible to the enemy?

FF is definitely modeled. Try running a squad near a place where an MG is area firing at. They crap their pants and run, with the occasional casualty.

  9. Damn, never thought my little question would make such a big discussion. One quick question in regards to the new discussion in this thread.

Why isn't the Gewehr 43 modeled? 10 shot semi-auto, 450,000 made. Reportedly it was an excellent sniper rifle as well, at least the well made ones.

OK. It's been about 4 months since I logged on. I tried the search engine but it wasn't working (no really!). So, what's the latest info on CM2? Is a release date of December 2001 still expected?

I'm not sure about the release date but Charles has done an interview and released a few shots of some wire models of the Russian SUs and and IS-2, as well as some buildings. It should be easy to find on any of the CM websites.
