  1. I played a PBEM Ladder game v a guy(no names) who picked July44 axis and a fat KT. i was not impressed but i was a bit green. I had 2 76mm ATG and 3 76mm Shermans. 21 hits bounced off his armour including 5 at a 90° 1 of these at 20m(the final rush attaempt). He brewed all my tanks and guns but while dodging i took 2 hetzers and a marder and pulled a draw outa the bag. Just shows sometimes, thses cats are just too fat.
  2. :eek: Wow, so many responses. The information provided has been very useful. I understand that rivers are the main cause of the AI problems, and will now be able to create much better mini campaigns from what i have read here. For those that asked it was my own campaign. After spending hours making it and then seeing the AI do foolish things, i was a bit sour for sure, hence the post. The scenario basically led through bocage to a river with 2 bridges and a ford. On the far bank was a town. Some bocage, the river and 50% of the town were on one of the maps. The German AI then decided to leave the very defensible town and launch an attack across the crossing points with the effect of my origional post. This is mainly what i found annoying. However it seems there is not alot i can do to get the outnumbered Germans to hold instead of launching futile attacks. Another Campaign for the scrap heap. Ive been building mini campaigns of D-Day and the push out from the beacheads. All Historic and maps as near as i can recreate them. But i have never been able to get the balance just right so they can be played succesfully from either side. MAybe i should just build multiplayer Campaigns.   3. I have just come from playing a river crossing game. The map was 1.5km wide with 2 bridges crossing a deep, wide river. The computer player, supposed to be defending decides to cross the river and attack me while im advancing on the bridges. But instead of heading for the bridges, he moves towards the river till he cant get his units across, then walks all his troops along the river till he gets to the bridge. Reminded me of watching lemmings. Needless to say, exposing most his force on the bank of the other side meant i just shot him to bits while he tried to cross. Shame as the game was fun till that point. Will CM 2 A.I. be any better ? Seems a shame to waste such a good game with poor A.I. Ill stick to multiplayer i think.
  4. Ive played a game where a Sdkfz 7/2 sat behind bocage took out 7 M5A1 which means 14 MGs spraying it with fire and did jack . And a little off topic but keeping with the inf AT weps thing. I read an account of a soldier of the 7th Green howards in normandy who stuck the butt end of his PIAT in the ground and used it as a mortar to take on german infantry quite succesfully (he lived to write the account) be nice if this was portrayed in the game Also be nice if the PIAT's loader used a rifle to help gun down attacking inf instead of just sitting there when out of PIAT ammo.
  5. Hey Guys, Im no Mod creater for sure, but one thing i know is Tiger (Mr John.S.) is the mod god !! His mods are crystal and look so realistic its hard to belive its not a photo at times. he knows what hes talking about man. As for the truck, i dont think its a great improvement on the origional, very blotchy looking and no nice defining shading to give its nice shape, not one for down loading. As for john quitting modding A great shame, i have most your mods john and always look forward to the next piece of work you create. Personal fave being the hotchkiss. Ill miss your work dude, good luck in what ever your doing now. Maximus, you need to learn to take citicism better if your gona be a modder dude. We all learn by mistakes and if no one criticised then we would learn sweet F**k all. Nuff said....
  6. Kiwi, Why dont you join a ladder like the rugged defence one, the top players on the ladder dont lose much and it gives you a goal. There are just under 300 players in the RD one, personally ranked mid way but only had 5 games ; p
  7. I have not read your thread about cavalry, but was it not common for troops to dismount before engaging in combat, hence no place in this game. Although there was probably a fair few near suicidal charges by the soviets, i dont think they would last very long in CM. And yes it would be nice to see Opel Blitzs in CM2, a true german workhorse. But my question was, has a list of vehicles in CM2 ever been posted ??? Anybody ???
  8. Just wondering as im new to this board if a vehicle listing has ever been discussed ? My main query on vehicles is, will there be opel blitz trucks this time round ???
  9. One thing i feel is very important in beating green troops with veterans is keeping in the command radius of your HQ's. Their extra attributes are a very powerfull things but if your troops are not in contact with the HQ, they just become normal again. Having these bonuses for all your troops whilst fighting really makes the difference. I tend to use a company HQ with stealth with any ambushing ATG's i may posses, works a treat.
  10. I thought the game auto surrendered at 25% morale in 1.12. usually by the time you are this low your force is spent anyway. Personally i love for my enemies to surrender so i can get further up the ladder i play.
