If y'all can hang on for just a short amount of time I'll be posting some new late-war W-SS uniform mods to CMMods.com. They're much better than the previous versions. Trust me. I'm working to update all my German uniforms for CMBB and bring them up to "CMAK Mod Standards." The German uniform mods were the first ones I made for CMBB, and really don't look as good IMHO as my later Soviet, Hungarian, etc. uniforms.
Edited to add teaser screenshot, which doesn't really do the mod justice:
Until I upload you could always use the CMAK "ETO" late-war W-SS uniform mod which includes the camouflage version of this mod only. It should work just fine with CMBB, as will the late-war ETO Heer and Luftwaffe mods posted at CMMods.com

It's almost done. Got sidetracked with Real Life Issues and my CMAK disk appears to have grown legs and walked off. I'll try to finish it in the next few weeks.
-
I could make some French uniforms. If someone can direct me to decent photos of French uniforms and militaria that would be swell. I've done a little research on the Web but didn't turn up anything that could serve as a decent photo reference.

Thanks for the compliment. Junk2drives's chronology is pretty right-on. I uploaded a lot after the Great Crash, but really didn't have time to add everything. AsroCat came to the rescue and added most of the my stuff that I never got around to re-uploading. Anything you see with my handle attached to it is more recent than or at least from the same time frame as the AstroCat uploads.
I've actually got a couple new Heer uniforms based on my CMAK mods that I might upload some time if I feel like it.

Oh, but it does. Only the day after things tend to look different than the night before. </font>Originally posted by Juju:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Macphail:

I like your reinforcing patches on the knees. I tried to do it but couldn't get it right. The position's a comprimise but it looks pretty neat.

The reenactor dude carries a bit more field gear, and the coloring of his Denison smock is a bit different, but otherwise they're the same uniform.
My version pictured here was modeled after original and reproduction Denison smocks. I tried to make the colors look more like those in weathered examples, as opposed to new ones. The trouser texture represents the lighter weight denim battledress worn by some Commonwealth airborne troops in Sicily and Italy. There is an alternate brown wool BD texture included in the set as well.
The smock proportions should be a little different, but that's an issue with the 3D model, not the textures.

It's gotta be around somewhere... My office (ok, my desk in the corner of the master bedroom--the office is now the baby's room) isn't really the tidiest of spaces, so it'll probably turn up some day.
-
I could make a set for the US Airborne pretty easily, but it appears that my 20-month-old has "done something" with my CMAK disk! My wife took it out of the CD-ROM drive (!) to play a Wiggles CD for him and left it on my desk--when I went to look for it last week it was nowhere to be found. The mischievous little monkey (baby, not wife) has a new habit of trying to insert CDs and DVDs in places that LOOK like they should accept a disk but don't.
Anyhow, I've got a few mods to release once I find the disk.
-
I've generally only made one version of each mod to cut down on the confusion, although there are a few out there, like the German summer uniforms and the updated US tank crews that will overwrite my other CMAK mods.
There are (more or less) three sets of textures for each unit: North Africa, Italy July 43-June 44, and Italy July 44-May 45. And then there's Crete, which has specific BMPs for German Fallschirmjäger and mountain troops. The FJ then have four separate sets of textures for the game.
The CMBB maps will not work in CMAK, and vice-versa. Many of the vehicle textures can be used in both games, but there are some improved 3D models in CMAK so you've got to be careful. You should buy it if you have any interest at all in the Eastern Front.

Look at the CMBO mods combatmission.com and you'll see Fernando's mod there so you can see whether that's it or not. Looks like it to me.
And no, I'm not winterizing the Marders for you...
-
That looks like Fernando's old (but good!) dark-yellow SPW 250/9 mod from the CMBO days.

The high collars represent the 1943 pattern gymnastiorkas, and are worn by all Soviet (and Polish and partisan) units in CMBB from mid-1943 on. To affect the high-collared look of this tunic BFC created a Soviet-only face set with a "collar" added to the neck area. So yes, you can make the collars go away by replacing them with standard faces.
-
That looks really cool. Of course Mikey's original was super cool to begin with, but I think the camo pattern gives it that little something extra.

You think Andrew could make a uniform Mod for this? </font>Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Sequoia:

The butchertroops tended to wear these telltale bloodied protective covers, and judging from photos they appear to have worn the white fatigues mostly, so I think there's a good chance you'd spot them

Are you referring to the BMP for the inside of the gun carriage? I spent way too much time trying to get the rivets aligned and it just wasn't working the way I wanted it to so I gave up on it and released it as-is. That's my excuse, anyhow.Originally posted by DEY:Before I forget this also, when I was whitewashing the 150mm IG, I noticed that there is a minor alignment problem with bmp number 104249, those bolt heads or maybe they're rivets, well anyhow they seem to be place to high on the template. I wasn't sure if you was aware of this or not.
Again thanks for all your hard work and effort.

Really? I noticed that the 75mm and 105mm howitzer shared parts in CMAK, but there was no problem with clashing paint schemes. I find it odd that BFC would match up Panzer gray bits with Dunkelgelb ones, especially since that's the way the originals were. The original CMBB gray sIG 33 was very similar in coloration to my mod.Originally posted by DEY:Hi Andrew, I'm glad you like the whitewash, I've got it posted but I think I may try to polish it a little more yet.
I have a sorta comment and question, I've just noticed that the grau version has the wheels and shield brace shared with those camo'ed howitzer's, that blue color does sorta clash with that gelb based camo scheme, do you think you could rework those two parts, with some kinda neutral color that could work with both base colors.
I hope ya keep on redrawing AFV's and guns, thanks for your hard work and effort.

That's my scenario. I actually have a final version waiting to be uploaded to the Scenario Depot but I've been too lazy to do that one last playtest it requires.Originally posted by ropey:Incidentally, another scenario (by an author whose name escapes me) is available that games the German counter-attack that followed this battle so they may make a nice two-pack.
I'd love to see your map--can you e-mail it to me at andrewtf at foxarts dot com?

Super cool!
Another MikeyD must-have mod, for certain.

I had a go at the dunkelgelb based one so far, I hope it does at least minimum justice to your great artwork.Originally posted by DEY:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr /> Originally posted by: AndrewTF
I don't plan on doing it, so feel free to winterize away!

I think something bad happened to it--either when I was putting the zip together or when I uploaded it. I'll check it when I get home and re-upload if necessary. I thought I fixed this but I guess not.Originally posted by MikeyD:Seeing these mods made me think I may have missed some of your Soviet uniform mods, so I scooted on over to cmmods.com and downloaded your 'Soviet Uniforms Set 2".
Does it sound right that the 'Infantry' folder contains a single bmp (9505.bmp) and the 'naval' folder just contains three bmps? I downloaded and expanded the thing twice with the same result. Is cmmods missing some of your mod art?

Beats me. I'd love more moddable, better looking AT weapons (i.e. bazooka, Panzerschreck, PIAT). BFC did introduce moddable mortars in one of the CMBB patches, thought.Originally posted by junk2drive:While on the subject, kinda, where do hardcoded items get their color from? I was up close with a flamethrower and noticed the nozzle is black as if missing a bmp. Where does the green for the fuel tank come from? Or the tan for German AT shrecks or fausts?
-
I think the un-ID'd tank and light armor BMPs can be modded. I don't know about the gun, but it is disappointing not to see the cool mod until after the battle. I think when playing as Americans in CMAK and CMBO that all unidentified German field pieces should be ID'd as 88s.Originally posted by junk2drive:I wish unidentified units would show as a unit instead of the hardcoded "gun?" "tank?" etc.
All the cool mods and sometimes no view of them until the game ends.

I'll go ahead and take the credit for that Mods make your units perform better in-game. Kinda like how your car runs better after you wash and vacuum it.

No screenies yet. There's an ongoing, eye-opening discussion on CMx2 in the CMAK forum. Not too many specifics about the graphics yet other than they're going to be far superior to what we have now in CMBB and CMAK.
