OK here goes: What was the Waffen SS? I have heard references that sounded like the Waffen SS was a seperate branch within the normal SS. Specifically I remember a snippet from A Bridge Too Far where some of the regular SS soldiers mention their dislike when attacking with the Waffen SS, because they were so fanatical and would not retreat. However, other references I have heard make it seem like the Waffen SS was the entire SS, just a more formal name for it or something. Specifically, when choosing units in CM you can only choose Waffen SS. So are the two different or just one in the same. Also, what does the word Waffen mean in German. Seems close the waffe, which is weapon I believe.

I just found out about this great game! While it's not a wargame it IS great fun set during WWII. You get to play as either the Americans or Germans in first person, and u can play as different types of soldiers, each with a different type of weapon & traits. US weps are Garand, Thompson, BAR, Springfield. Jerrie weps are k98, Gewehre, mp40, and the mighty mp44. Anyway they've got a bunch of WWII maps for it like Omaha beach & Caen. Successful play does require teamwork and wounds are realistic (one shot kills) so its not very gamey at all. U do have to have half-life to play and it is a 100mb download, but just set up download accelerator and go to bed. It'll be done before u know it Its like being in Saving Private Ryan. Just suggesting this great bit of fun. Hope some of you check it out, and if ur ever fighting with or against Captain Wacky, don't be afraid to say hello!

Discovered the problem-apparently his server doesn't like DA or getright. I was able to download it thru windows, so I won't be needing any of the files

For some reason I am unable to download the grass textures from combat-missions.net If anyone knows any other location for the files, or would kindly like to email them to me at ragnaar15@hotmail.com, I need either the grass or subdued grass files, nos. 1 or 5. Thanks!

From what I remember from their news, I think they're having bandwith problems with the provider, what with all the new sherman mod packs. Hopefully they'll be back up soon with some updates -Wrong! Conan, what is truly good in life? To crush your enemy, to see him driven before you, and to laugh at the lamentations of his women!

I have a whole crapload of mods on my computer, and I recommend not using the mod manager at all. It's not that hard to unzip the files into the /bmp directory. I found the manager to only complicate an already fairly simple process.

Does anyone know how or if you can modify the CM tracers? If so, what is the .bmp number?
