  1. Thanks for the very helpful comments.

Yes I think it's my memory that's failing me.  As to the Marders, they did about as well as could be expected.  No problem with their main guns vs BMPs but vs tanks, not surprisingly, it was mostly just hits, but no Milans fired.  Plan to try a couple more Marder vs MBT only see if I can coax any Milan fire.  Just have to be careful with placing so they don't get taken out by the MBT main guns.  Will likely try 4 Marders spread out vs one tank and see if Milans get fired.  With my luck a Marder will score a lucky hit with the main gun and kill the MBT before the main guns fires.

I'll try target briefly for AFV support of infantry coupled with infantry / MG suppression. See how that pans out :)

  2. I saw in the notes that an FPS camera mode is now available.  Not sure I'd ever use it but curious to see how it would look.  Is that mode in the demo?  I can't see anywhere to activate it either when selecting a battle in the Wego / RT options or in any of the hot key menus.

  3. Asking this as much about RL as the game but red forces can call on the Tunguska (which for me largely means deploying no drones or air strikes until I can find and kill the damn things) but the US side seems stuck with Stingers which, while at times effective, have nowhere near the accuracy or kill rates of OPFOR AA vehicles.  Do the US / NATO not have similar weapons?  Seems odd that with the millions of dollars worth of AFVs often deployed in CMBS that Stingers are the best you can call on.

  4. Is there a reliable way to get Marders to use their Milans against armour targets instead of using their main gun?  Had four crest a ridge to test with a couple of enemy MBT and BMPs in full view.  Not one fired the Milan but insisted on engaging with the main gun?  Seem to remember something similar with SF1 but can't recall if I had to do something (open up command?) to get them to use it.  Not a problem with Bradleys (but even they at times seem to be keener at times on using TOWs against buildings).

Also, WRT MOUT etc, IIRC, target light was a command you could also use for Marders etc to suppress a building while friendlies were about to assault it, I can't recall if they would actually cease fire where friendlies were close to the target, or just take special care to avoid hitting them.  With SF2 they keep firing.  But this may be a failing memory issue.

And jeez do I prefer US forces with Javelins over German squads with 'fausts! LOL :(  Enjoy using German forces with the Leopards but I find USMC infantry way more effective and less brittle, AND Javelins!!

I asked basically the same question earlier in this thread some time ago. I never received an answer, but I'm assuming that "OBJ1" is the whole of Wilcox, and that the reference to an photo is for "local color" only.

Another brain twister is in "Day at the Beach." The scenario starts with a platoon of Marine Combat Engineers and Forward Observer team on the beach. I haven't been able to determine why they are there. In my estimation, the only time we'd have Engineers on the beach would to clear obsticles and mines. As a former Marine, I'd expect the initial landing party to be Force Recon to scout out and identify enemy positions. They could also call in initial fire missions if necessary, so the FO team is unnecessary too. Initial setup is pretty much a "head scratcher" for me.

Yeah I kinda mentally wrote it off as that too, Obj 1 being Wilcox, bit confusing though.  If the photo thing is for colour only, personally I'd prefer it got left out, odd that it says 'click here to see aerial photo' (or words to that effect).

Another thing I can't fathom, the notes on the new engine refer to a FPS camera mode.  Doubt I'd use it, just curious to see what it looks like though.  Am I correct in assuming it's in the main game only and not in the demo.  I've looked at the hot keys and also the options when you select the mission but can't see anything pertaining to FPS.

I was curious about engineers being the first units on the back to, even an FO.  Like you say I'd have expected Recon or even regular Marines.  I'm guessing things like that can be edited (without too much difficulty) in the scenario editor in the main game.  I wouldn't normally risk an FO in an exposed position with that much lead flying around TBH.

  6. More of a forum support issue but I can't see a forum for that.  Noticed that you can only click a few 'Likes' per day / session.  Is there a reason for that?  If I haven't checked the forum for a while I'll often read a whole thread through, such as SF2 demo feedback.  If folks are raising issues I am finding I'll often click Like.  Can generally only do 2 or 3 though.  Not a big deal of course.  Just curious over the rationale?

I answered this in a different post but on a Mac FOR THE DEMO, the saved games you have to show contents of the .app, then Resources/Game Files/Saved Games. Old style like BN. When the game is released it will have a separate Game Files directory at the top level, just like FB.

Hi.  Yes you did.  Thanks for your time with re-installing to check. Thought I'd messed up the install so posted here as it was CMSF 2 (actually though, as you explain, different build type).  Now, just need to find a way to get Marders to use their Milans against armour targets instead of using their main gun!  Had four crest a ridge to test.  Not one fired the Milan.  Seem to remember something similar with SF but can't recall if I had to do something (open up command?) to get them to use it.  Not a problem with Bradleys.  And jeez do I prefer US forces with Javelins over German squads with 'fausts! Couple of issues with Passage to Wilcox (unless it's a demo issue and / or I'm reading wrong or misunderstanding):

The briefing refers to OBJ 1.  Nowhere on the maps do I see an OBJ 1?  Seizing OBJ 1 seems pretty important, but what / where is it?

Briefing also refers to an aerial photo, click to see, but there's nothing there and nothing to click?  Is something missing or is the briefing wrong?

  8. Can't for the life of me find the 'Saved Game' folder with the demo?  Is there one?  With the full Blitzkrieg game they are in Applications > CMFB > Game Files > Saved Games.  This is on a MBP running Mojave.  With the CMSF 2 demo the games save OK but no saved game folder to be found.  Not a problem if it's by design with the demo but I prefer to know where files are going.  If I search the saved game name in Finder for CMFB it brings the files up.  With CMSF 2 Demo, nothing.  Even using 'Easy Find' and 'File Finder' apps doesn't help?

    Applications/CM.../Game Files/Saved Games

It's not a Mac thing. It's Charles setting up things on the Mac so you don't have to open the contents of the .app to find the game folders (scenarios, campaigns, saves, etc). Makes it tons easier to add user scenarios. The Data folder is also outside the .app now as well, so same goes for mods.

Yeah.  That's what I thought.  Indeed that's where they are for the full Final Blitkrieg game I have.  But I've just downloaded the CMSF 2 Demo.  If I go to Apps > CMSF 2 Demo and open that I just see the game launcher and a documents folder.  Tried saving a game and it saves OK but there is no 'Saved Game' folder created and I can't for the life of me find the file using any search commands or even an app like Find File or easy find.  Bizarre.  I'd at least like to know where to find them (at the very least for being able to delete multiple saved games without having to use the in game single file deletion method.  Not sure if there's some hidden file command that needs to be enabled or what?  But strange thet I can see them in Game Files > Saved Games for Blitzkrieg.  For CMSF 2 Demo, nothing?

  10. Just spent the best part of an hour hunting around for where the saved games are now with no joy.  Used to be in Applications > CM## > Saved Games IIRC but now there's nothing there and no searches are pulling up anything.  I'm guessing it's yet another Mac change.  Just find it easier to delete numerous save games from the folder rather than individually using select THEN confirm from the game.

Any idea where they've moved to now?

  11. Not with mine it seems.  But then I think the AI has a vendetta against me anyway :)   One thing I do find, as has been mentioned, once opened up, it seems a sure fire way to get the enemy to reveal otherwise concealed positions as it seems unbuttoned vehicles (and what seems like ESPECIALLY those belonging to commanders) are real bullet magnets.  I'm guessing something must trigger that response from the AI but I wonder how realistic it actually is?  Perfectly positioned platoon(s) for ambush who suddenly let rip and reveal every position just because some TC decided to take a peak from 2-300 metres away?  Thankfully they do seem harder to hit and do button again fairly pronto but it's still way too risky to have them open anywhere near a combat zone.  As for half tracks, park 'em and leave 'em for me, not prepared to risk them being taken out by some NCOs Luger :(
