  1. Hi SSG,

For play against the AI or a real tricky heart stopping live game - try A Fistful of Doodads. MOUT action with a great map and many many possibilites to tear your hair out should you forget about the balconies or not recon the building entry and exits :) Channeled kill zones in the form of high walled alleys, doors to execution cells and nasty LOS surprises makes this a scenario where a victory or draw feels thoroughly deserved.

For head to head play, give Blue to the less experienced player so to allow for a little more forgiveness when that first rocket flies in :)

    Great scenario.

    Cheers

  2. Hi Nick,

Hmmm, so you managed to connect in the past, interesting.

Sometimes, the IP address changes...especially at home with a local network. I found that checking the local IP address's via cmd/ ipconfig, against the IP address entry in the port forwarding table was a good place to start.

It has happened to me a lot, so if there are any connection issues, I check to see what my internal IP is currently (ipconfig) then open up the router and check to see if this IP matches the IP number I have port 7023 mapped to :) Frustrating, but once you learn to check for it, saves a lot of head scratching.

If this all matches on your side, get your mate to check his side too.

Let me know if this is the case

    Cheers

  3. hi Nick,

OK, a few things to check here. Have you 'opened up' the CM port (7023 or something) on your router via the port forwarding section? Simply add an entry here if not.

The next trick is to find out your 'real' IP :)

It took me a while to figure it out but I was using the internal IP assigned and not the outer world IP address...so my opponent was unable to connect.

This outer world IP address can be found in one of the many router tabs/pages, check them all and use the IP address which looks unlike the internal one :)

    Hope this helps.

  4. Hi Kyle,

I guess you will have to wait for Normandy. Unless something miraculous happens, major changes such as movable way-points will not be in the Shock Force genre of titles.

Again, for me, the way it is now is manageable, and certainly not a game breaker, I am comfortable with the 'backspace' key to rid myself of unwanted way-points quickly, but each to their own I suppose.

  5. Hi bflyblue,

I have played TCP loads, either via the internet or via a LAN, and I can't say I have had any issues. In fact, considering the amount of data being pushed it plays smooth and seamlessly :)

This won't help you with your current problem though :)

I have experienced a network pause - and this usually un-paused itself and the game kept going. However, when playing via the wireless - this pause would usually mean a crash and game over.

Are you getting this problem all the time? Are you playing over a wireless?

  6. Hi Sivodsi,

I had a similar experience to yours. Hidden red sniper teams, on a roof with a low wall around it - wiped out from range. I tried to put this down to IR optics from somewhere...but still, it felt a little 'weird'. There were changes done to the way spotting worked on rooftops...I just hope it didn't take it too far. I am sure there will be others seeing similar things. Will be interesting to keep an eye on this

  7. Hi John,

This scenario can be won by Red :) I haven't done it myself, but I saw a good friend of mine beat it eventually. Admittedly it took him countless restarts to achieve this.

His main tactic was to somehow get in behind Blue, and he did this by going over both of the flanking hills. Using the BMP-1's main gun and missile he took out an Abrams from behind this way. If the BMP didn't do the killing (their chances are VERY slim indeed) his re-postioned T-72's would be in a better position to get off a few shots while the Abrams is distracted. He basically used the BMP's as bait.

As it happened I played this last time and lost every bit of armour for only 1 Stryker killed.

  8. Hi Cabal23

I guess people will see things differently for sure. Adam often reported what he saw as bugs and this sort of (groggy) dedication is what can help a game progress.

What I objected to however, was the way he chose to go about this. His resulting implosion was not a real surprise, but sad in a way. He can tell me to do anything he likes, it's the internet after all, but if he upsets the moderators by stepping over certain well drawn lines in the sand, then he get's what everyone else would get.

Actually, for the most part, this forum is by far the best for open, polite and balanced discussions, people who are perhaps too sensitive to critique, perceived or otherwise, should be aware of what open discourse can bring.
