Only 2 of us playing Close Combat still eh?
CC5 is the only other game that I have on my comp and I'm playing the Gold Juno Sword mod. What a beautiful mod-it totally revitalizes the CC5 game.
NHL 2K3 is currently taking up most of my gaming time. I'm trying to get the Leafs into the playoffs on the All Star difficulty setting (well actualy I played the first 15 games on normal).
What a great game. If you love hockey and own a console and are tired of the silly arcady hockey games put out by that other company, then pick up 2K3 and prepare to be amazed-it's like...actually real hockey!

Wow General George, you're quite the lurker. 21 posts in 3 years and 5 of them are in this thread.

Don't make me pull out my "I'll give you a bone" joke.
Oh God I turned it into a pun.

There's no reason to speak metaphorically. Whatever your problems are, I assure you that the Battlefront community will not assault you with any undue harrassment.Originally posted by Major Dolt:I've been looking for a strategy game where tactics play a bigger role than the size of your force.

the 1.06 will change the bmp's though doesnt it? which defeats the purpose of having the mod.
I basically compromised and installed every part of the mod except for the main menu buttons bmp.

So Battlefront decides to start selling the game for retail in North America. Are you saying that you expect them to sell the exact same game to the public as what they first came out with over 3 years ago??Originally posted by guymaru:I guess you've got a point. All the big name publishers repackage and resell their games for additional profit - why not you? Just a crappy industry practice, like many others.
I suppose you dont think that any of the patches should be included either. Why don't they just sell the 1.0 version and let everyone download the patch for it.
Nobody is making you pay for the damn game. It's not like you need to buy the new version in order to continue playing PBEM games with other people.

Well I just dropped into EB Games to see if they had Combat Mission and they told me they were sold out. They only had 2 games to start out with so I guess that isn't really a huge accomplishment
Too bad. I was really looking forward to drooling over it.

I don't want to sound like I'm flaming you, but if two stores told you that the game is sold out then it is obviously in stores (just not actually there anymore)

Hear, hear. I like the way this man thinks.Originally posted by Jim Boggs:Okay, this is the Sound Off About CMAK Thread, so here goes:
I don't give two squats about the desert, everything I've read describes it as similar to naval warfare and I ain't no swab.
Now then: Sicily and Italy. Now there's WWII at it's most equal and intense.
Troina, Salerno, Ortuna, San Pietro, Monte Cassino, Anzio, tough, determined, fanatical resistance on one side and dogged, unrelenting, determination on the other.
Rooting the enemy off of mountains and out of caves. Clearing old villages built onto the mountainside. No room to deploy armor, oceans of mud, an attacker's nightmare.
CMBB's engine is excellent, and now we get to play the Allies again. The fire in the stomach will grow when those squads are American (or British, or Canadian, or Polish, or Kiwi's, etc.) that are advancing triumphantly or being cut down mercilessly by the determined German foe.
But then again, this is just one man's opinion.

Damn. I'm going to check tomorrow night.

sweet!
I'll be sure to drop into my local EB and stare at the box
*Mmmmmmm, an actual box....***

I'll give ya a bone...
At least that's what I said to your wife

I think it's funny that this thread is right under the one stickied, "How to take a Screenshot..."
hehehhehehheee
I've been using the Ultima Online Screenshot Utility
It was made specifically for Ultima Online but it works great for all games and best of all, it's FREE!
All you have to do is hit a certain button (whatever you decide you want the screenshot button to be) and it will take the pic and name it and place it in a certain folder.

Why so long a wait for CMBB retail? I'd really like to pick that up in May instead of the 4th quarter
Any ideas yet what it will cost? The current cost of CMBB is really the only thing keeping me from purchasing it-that and the added cost of shipping. I'd love to be able to just drop down to my local EB Games and pick up a copy.

I just want to clear up the confusion I'm having regarding ATI's Radeon cards and the fog/smoke problem.
Does the 9700 Pro not support fog for CM but it does for other games? Or do you have no chance of seeing any fog in any other games with this card?
Thanks

So I suppose you're suggesting that I ask the plethora of SC players in the CMBO forum whether or not they played CM before SC?Originally posted by Kuniworth:Hm isnt this a little bit off topic
-
Ditto. I think that should be easily implementable for CMAKOriginally posted by Volker:Missions listed in Order of Timeline. I think its fun to play the Missions as they happened, rather than skip around.

I'm just curious as to how many people here have gone out and bought CMBO or CMBB as a result of the influence of the CM'ers in the general forum or just by looking at the website. Are most people here those who originally played CM and came over to SC or did you go the other way, or did you all of a sudden just discover SC and never looked back (or at CM)
I discovered SC as a result of playing CM, being around these forums.

This might be sacriligous, but now that Battlefront.com has emerged from the Dark Ages and instituded "stickies", they could probably close the thread.Originally posted by Jim Boggs:uh..excuse me....Mr. Moderator, sir?...What happens when a "stickie" thread reaches 300 posts?
Does it get "unstuck"?
Just curious.

See-Mak.
Definately has the best ring to it out of all of the series
I also like the fact that the price should be less than 45$
I've always said that I thought 45$ was a little bit steep, especially with the added cost of shipping.
Does this mean that there might also be a price change in CMBB? I don't want to sound cheap but even if BTS reduced the price by only 5$ that would probably be enough to tip the scales for me
BTW the Afrika theatre doesnt interest me that much but I cannot WAIT to get my hands on the Italian theatre
-
Ermmm...I believe you are in the wrong forum
Unless you meant SC instead of CM. As for CM, the boys at BTS have stated that they have absolutely no interest in doing a Pacific theatre game so you're out of luck there. Someone did create a Pacific mod for CM though. You'll have to go look for it. Do a search on the CMBO forum and I'm sure something will come up.

Time to start editing the FAQ."Why isn't this thread sticky?I don't know. I assume it's because this forum can't have sticky threads. It's a pain in the bum, I can tell you.

WowOriginally posted by Madmatt:This thread now highlights a new feature of UBB. Sticky Threads!

Has anyone ever tried to create a short CMBB movie? This is something that I would like to see and would willingly download with my 56k connection.
Would it be possible for a creative Mac user to take different action sequences from a game (or multiple games) and splice them together to form some type of movie? Not a full length feature of course but some kind of short story would be really interesting to watch. You could even change the colours to black and white and create some kind of pseudo documentary on the Eastern Front
Just a thought. I'd surely appreciate it if someone was willing to give it a try. We could have mini "Oscars" to see who could come up with the best movie.
I bought it ! I bought it !

Booooooooooooo. I'm still holding out
Waiting for the price drop when CMAK comes out. Although it's been out at least a year hasn't it? You think they could drop the price a little at least.
