Hey it's the closest without going over right? What do I win what do I win?????Originally posted by Member # 4691:December 1st
I hope it's not a free copy of CMAK cause I just preordered.

Hey MD, that Canadian Intelligence officer would be Farley Mowat would it not?

No I wouldn't pay 40$ or 45$ for SC. It's far to simple a game for that. Usually the game boils down to making the exact same moves every time you play it. I think that's why lots of people play the game hardcore for a month, and then decide it's time to move on.
*edit* I'll offer the comparison of the CM series for those of you who've played it. Don't you agree that it's different every time you play it? Even if you play the same scenario over and over, rarely does it play the same way twice.
To me a game like that has the depth that warrants an extra 20$.

I disagree. If Strategic Command had have been
45$ like Combat Mission then I never would have bought it. I am one of those people who are constantly screaming about the high prices of strategy games. The only reason why I bought Korsun Pocket was because the store had mispriced it as 19.99 pounds instead of 29.99 pounds.
I STILL have yet to buy CMBB because it will still cost me over 50$ US and I noticed with frustration yesterday that even though Hearts of Iron has been out for almost a year, the price has barely changed.
To me it's little wonder why there's so little growth in the wargame industry. People aren't willing to invest 50$ in a game that they will most likely not "get into."
I think that if you have a low price and provide a demo, then people will buy the game if they enjoy the demo.
I suppose that for 25$ I was probably also thinking "bargain bin game." However after playing the excellent demo I was thinking BARGAIN game!!
-
Hey it's a fairly hardcore wargame and it's getting publicity on a mainstream gaming site. Don't complain about that, even if they do get some niggling details wrong.
-
Actually, it's the same review as last year
You think they could have at least deleted this part of the review.
The game's only available from battlefront.com so don't bother looking for it in stores. The gang at Battlefront are even offering a bundle of this game and the original Beyond Overlord for $65. For two of the best wargames ever on the PC, it's a real bargain. -
PC GAMER UK says it's coming out in December. Who am I to argue?
Hey wait, I said December too! I hope I'm right. What do I win?

What exactly is the price going to be for the new special edition? if you have the Cdn figures then that would certainly be appreciated.

Hitting print screen only takes a screenshot of your monitor. You then have to open up some kind of program like printshot and Paste the picture and then save it. If you want all this to be done for you, or if you want to take more than one printscreen, then you should download a screenshot program that you can have running when you play the game.

If you're frightened of CMAK then you're going to be petrified by CM2

Well that's a start. I think I knew most of that already but what about terms like noise and grainyness, etc etc.
What do you do to make the pictures look like this and how do you go about doing it?
That's what I'm interested in.

Has anyone written a guide on how to take screenshots and change them into "photos" like this?? I'm afraid I know absolutely nothing about photo editing although I do own Adobe Photoshop and I'd love to try playing around with some of this stuff is someone would be good enough to write up a newbie guide

Ermm I think if you go into your BMP directory on your CD and copy and paste BMP #30000, 30001, and 30002 into your BMP folder in the CM directory on your harddrive then that should help clear up the problem
Am I totally off base here guys? It sounds like the "invisible font" problem to me.

Seriously doubt it.

If you own a GC then you might have a hard time finding it. I think it's pretty darn rare on the GC. Heck I own a PS2 and I had to order it on Ebay because none of the stores had it. I suggest you do the same. And you'd better hurry because 2k4 isnt coming out for the GC so this is your last chanceOriginally posted by Herr Kruger:I may have to pick it up, if it is available for GameCube, hee hee

I figure that if I wait for CMBB to come out in stores, I'll automatically save the 8$ US s+h charge plus probably another 5$ off the internet price.
-
Don't you mean CMBB:SE? I think the CMAK:SE is probably still 2 years off yet
-
I seriously doubt that the guys will ever become "out of touch with the fanbase"
And yes I would also love a VCR function, including the ability to merge the movies all together into one great big huge movie.
And not just that. I want to be able to edit it too. I think we could probably come up with some amazing looking stuff Of course, it'd probably be too big for most of us to download but at least we could have fun making our own.
