  1. There's also 1-111th Infantry (PA National Guard) which traces its lineage to colonial times. In fact we still carry the "Franklin Flag" which he designed and wear "Bennies" on our berets. The way I understood it was that the brigade system in the US Army replaced the regimental system to be more in line with the combat commands used in WW2. In WW2 in order to form a combined arms team they would form three combat commands from an armored division. After the war they came up with the brigade system so that armor and inf would be under the same command in peace time and able to work together in training instead of having pure inf or pure arm regiments who only got to meet their better half at the front.
  2. I have an 8200 w/ the 64MB GeForce 4Go and CMBO 1.12 & CMBB 1.0 work fine with the default Dell drivers. (If you're running CMBB 1.1 then it could be the patch but I got a feeling it's the drivers.) -Hota
  3. That's the ladder that I played in a while ago. In fact, I just looked at my old stats and I played Von to a draw in Dec '00! Anybody know what the IRC addy is of their chat room? [ 08-02-2001: Message edited by: Hota ]
  4. Hi all! I've been away from the TCP/IP scene for a couple of months and I want to get back into it. Just wondering what's considered the best ladder to sign up with? Thanks!
  5. My friend is trying to dl the demo but his ISP (Prodigy) is booting him before the dl completes. Anybody have it in 1 or 2 Mb chunks? I'll grab them and post them on my site so you don't have to worry about keeping them around. ------------------ -====- Hota

  7. Sorry, forgot the link to FM 23-65: http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/23-65/ch1.htm#tab15 ------------------ -====- Hota
  8. Anyone else think the M2 is a little underpowered? According to http://www.bigtimesoftware.com/images/mgvsht.jpg the .50 cal will get the kill at about 400 meters. The Sd Kfz 251 has 11mm of frontal armor (can anyone confirm this and if it's face hardened). Check out this link for the penetration values of the .50 with AP ammo according FM 23-65. Am I way off base on this or should the ma duece be doing a lot more damage? ------------------ -====- Hota
  9. Hey Ben, that's pretty cool, thanks for the link! What kind of armor does the Sd Kfz's towards the front? I always thought it would be easier to knock out a HT or truck from the front with a .50 cause 1) less lead (vehicle is either moving towards you or away from you or is standing still) plus 50% of your visible target is the engine (which a .50 cal round with GO THROUGH). At 500 meters the .50 will chew up a truck from any angle and should be able to easily pierce any side of a lightly armed HT. One shot through the grill and it will go through your enigne block! ------------------ -====- Hota
  10. My problem is with the stopping power of the ma duece. In Bruce Canfield's American Infantry Weapons of WW2 he relates a story about a grunt who fires a .50 cal at a Japanese artillery piece. Not only did he silence the gun but he also PIERCED THE BREECH at over 1000 yards! A couple of games ago I had a .50 cal shooting at a HT at a little over 500 yards, in real life that HT would be shredded in a very short time, but it just buttoned up and kept on trucking! The M2 .50 Cal is one of the most devastating heavy machine guns ever produced, but in CM it just seems to be a longer range M1919! Does anyone know if the penetration power of the bullets (not just 20mm and larger rounds) are calculated, or is a bullet just a bullet no matter if it was fired from an M2 or an MP41? ------------------ -====- Hota
  11. My vote goes to Battleground with Van Johnson. Although I haven't seen it in years, I remember it being very accurate and still the only WW2 film I've seen with an M1919A6? (the MMG introduced late in the war to make the M1919 more mobile by adding a butstock and bipod). ------------------ -====- Hota
  12. Anybody know of any good sites detailing the history and variants of the Sherman or other allied armored vehicles? ------------------ -====- Hota
  13. Yesterday I had a zook take 6 shots at flak vehicle at 50-80M and not hit a one! ------------------ -====- Hota
