  1. LOL -- hilarious thread... When a gaggle of shermans walk right into my Panther's flanking ambush: <yelling> "Yeah, B*tch!! Whose your Daddy?!? WHOSE your Daddy?!? Die!! Die!!" <accompanied by me air-slapping an imaginary butt> Unfortunately I live on a crowded street where people constantly are walking by within earshot of my open window... ROFL!! Elysian
  2. Lol -- "shuffleboard commandos" is my favorite... Just thought I'd add my lurker-self to this list, 27. BTW -- I hear you 20's guys when you talk about feeling outta the loop. Hopefully I'll follow in some of your wise footsteps and have my fear/anxiety of aging dealt with by my 30's and just enjoy my kid self! (Love CM by the way, I used to fantasize about a game like this when playing text-based games on an HP 125 back in 1980) Elysian P.S. To whoever mentioned Jane's Addiction, I hear ya!
  3. Russelmz, To answer your question, against the AI. I played the battle in v1.05 with default date settings, combined arms(both sides), ME. [This message has been edited by Elysian (edited 12-13-2000).]
  4. I read your post at work, got home and setup a QB along the lines of what you describe (500 pts, ME, played allies with a Sherman 75mm as main unit). I won it in 13 turns even with some dumb mistakes. My advice to you (besides the good advice above) would be to re-evaluate how you move units. Even when operating offensively, trying to gain territory or a VL, I find it helps to think defensively. Think "moving ambush". Infantry should be your eyes, move the heavy stuff (or unhide it as the case may be for AT guns) into position only when you can guess what they will run into and that most likely they will kill/disable the target. Also, try to limit the LOS of your attacking units to only the target you plan to take out in order to protect them from side shots. I apologize if this advice is a little basic (I'm no expert myself), but defensive/ambush type thinking seems to help a lot in CM. Probably in real-life war as well! Elysian
  5. Is the TCP/IP patch 1.1 beta? If so (or otherwise), where can I download it from? Not readily apparent where it is from looking at this site... (or maybe I'm retarded ) Thanks for any help!
  6. Ok, played through about 6 scenarios and 10 or so QBs... Still pretty green but want to try this PBEM thing out cmorris973@hotmail.com
  7. Try playing a QB with the enemy set to assault you. And/or jack up the quality of his troops. Set Fog of War on full and fight on a city map... The AI in this game is far better than anything I've seen yet and will definitely throw you some curves... And to the guy who said, "The AI in CM sucks", find a more effective way to argue. The only thing "straw-man" statements such as that give evidence for is the immaturity of your debate skills. BTW -- Thanks for this game BTS!! Love it
  8. That's what I suspected, thanks for clearing that up. Elysian
  9. Same deal here as guy above. I live in San Jose, CA, ordered last Thursday, got it on Monday. Was amazed it got to me that fast! Insanely great game BTW... Now I just hope my girlfriend doesn't find my notes regarding armor penetration tests at varying ranges . Elysian
  10. My apologies if this has been asked before... Started my first Quick Battle last night and am wondering why purchasing a Panther (196-200)is more than a Tiger(180). Is this because the Panther is actually overall a better tank? I guess the real question is: Are point values based on the relative effectiveness of the unit? Or is it possibly the cost to the country to actually produce the unit? Thanks for any input! Elysian
