1. I read on the new features list that FO (except with radios) may not be passenger on a vehicle.

Does this means that FO can't ride in a vehicle or an FO with radio can call in strikes without disembarking from vehicle. Hope someone can clarify.

One more thing why does FO speed fall to slow category now, I remember they are fast in CMBO.

  2. Kelly's Heroes - definitely must buy, the most fun out the lot I think

Longest Day and Bridge Too Far - felt like watching documentary and John Wayne kinda ruin Longest Day for me

    Patton - Excellent

The Dirty Dozen - so so

    Guns of Navarone - ok

Force 10 from Navarone - nice special effects

    at the end

Saving Private Ryan - 1st watched it in cinema was okay, watched the DVD and crank up the sound, a bliss smile.gif

Thin Red Line - first movie I ever walked out of the cinema frown.gif

Bridge on River Kwai - same feeling like Dirty Dozen, felt left out at the end but a good movie though

  3. The question you have to asked is what other games you are playing or what you gonna play in the near future and checked what graphic card they support. If you only play CM I suggest getting the voodoo 5 then. It has better image quality with its FSAA but less speed than geforce, but CM does not need that speed factor much unless you play lots of FPS games. It is still expensive though even after price cut.

If you want to get geforce, try not to get the MX version cause like most computer hardware stuff, its better to get the real deal (the normal Geforce), than spending less . Theres no 'more bang for the buck', its more of 'you get what you spend'. That 128mb extra memory is overkill for current games unless you are using your computer for 3d design works.

  4.
quote:
$400?

You can find an ASUS GeForce2 GTS DDR 32MB cards for $200. Or even $150-$160 for a Vision Tek or Inno3D. You can find the GeForce2 MX 32MB for less than $100. Now if you're talking the Ultra series with 64MB then yes, $400 or more.

MX is the budget series, so yes you can get it cheap but I don't normally recommend buying any computer product that is below the entry level (geforce2 gts) unless you really dont have the cash cause most entry level stuff are already outdated by the time they reach market. (we all know that most company already has future specs for new product rite, they just havent press released it hehehe)

quote:
There is no such thing as the "pro", and the GTS is just the ending anacronym for the GeForce2.

Sorry but there is, but its for the OEM market so it might not be relevant but Geforce2 GTS pro has 20% more bandwidth than the normal ones.

quote:
Excuse me, but this is pure propaganda. Please cite all these benchmarks that claim that the Voodoo FSAA "crutch" is "far superior" to the GeForce solution, and then explain to me what objective measure they used to come to that conclusion.

I said better graphics, do you know the difference between better graphics and benchmarks. 3dfx = better graphics (not faster). There is no way (as I know) to judge graphics quality other than using your eyes I guess so there is no benchmark for graphics quality. Geforce loses thought at 4x FSAA on Direct3D

Heres an article from a respectable site: http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/articles/3dfx_v5_5500_in-depth/12.shtml

  5. Maximus might got the facts wrong between 3dfx and Nvidia. 3dfx produces better graphics and their FSAA was concluded to be far superior than Nvidia's but they lacked a lot in the speed department. So 3dfx = better graphics and nvidia = faster speed on benchmark test. I have both V3 3500 and Geforce GTS but I gave the GTS to my mom cause most of the games I played crashed on Nvidia's chip. No point having good card that cant play the game I love smile.gif

I find that 3dfx's games are more fun and they seemed to last longer, Nvidia has better technology with their transform and lighting stuff but all those games is not out in the markey yet. But most of these game run into the danger of sacrificing gameplay for graphics, e.g. Nocturne, specifically made for Nvidia, great graphic and character animation, it has lighting and even clothes animation, but gameplay is piss poor smile.gif We'll just have to wait for Black and White to see whether they will break this trend.

Also, dont forget Nvidia's card is very expensive and they produce new modification every 3 months (ultra, pro, gts, mx) so you might wanna wait or you will regret spending about $400 bucks.

  6. Anyone find any use for area fire using infantry when you can clearly see the enemy troops? I find that even though the manual states that area fire hit an area rather than the pinpoint accuracy shown in the ingame graphic but it seems that it has little effect (won't even supress them) unless fired at less than 1m next to the enemy troops. (Sometimes I think that they actually use the pinpoint accuracy shown in the engine)

At that range its better to target the enemy unit since you get the bonus of inflicting damage and faster supression.

I wish that the infantry would shoot randomly around the area fire target but they seem to be excellent marksmen and shoot at the same spot all the time, even if enemy troops are marching 3m away.

  7. One advantage over ICQ is that you dont have to create much contact list. This is fine if you only have one friend who play with you but when you have more your ICQ will be filled and its tedious work remembering all these people with all the nicknames. smile.gif

I don't know how far the tcp/ip patch goes but if they indeed include simultaneous order phase than the game would generally be quicker. If they implement the timer then it is even much better unless you got opponent who take only 1 min on the order phase on PBEM games then its pretty much the same. smile.gif

  8. The timer thing seem to be a really good idea, I think that most order phase require porbably only 3 to 6 min at most.

I am not a computer expert, but with the addition of TCP/IP can program like Gamespy Arcade be used as a meeting place? Probably CM need to add the use of command line so that player can go straight to the TCP/IP screen when lauching the game. Can anyone verify if this is possible?

  9. I am still playing the demo (my copy hasnt arrived yet) but the coolest thing I've seen is on the Valley mission. I dont know how my Sherman got this sudden accuracy but I'm on second turn and my sherman is more or less on my side of the map. 2 enemy fortification decided to fire at my shermans which unfortunately come to view. Well, my Sherman return fire and took out the wooden fortification in 1 shot, fire second shot at another concrete bunker and hit the slit and took it out. Nuff said.

  10. Ok I have ordered the game but I still have some question from the demo.

    1. I read a post somewhere that the full release 60mm mortar can fire without LOS

    2. Do collapsing building cause damage to the unit inside it?

    3. What is the chance of engaging target during crawl?

    4. Is crawl basically the same as sneak except crawl is more likely to dodge fire?

    5. Do unit have cone of vision or do they have 360 degrees awareness around them?
