  3. I wanted to let all of you know that I just posted build 1.5.24 to the Web site. This build does not include any functional changes, just some cool little features like: <LI>Providing an option for the application to recall the last set of players' names</LI> <LI>Remembering the game file save path</LI> <LI>Positioning the game window in the last saved X, Y coordinates</LI> This build is compatible with files created with builds 1.5.24, 1.5.23, and 1.5.22. - Brad
  4. Note that the HTTP host where the download files reside does not support download programs (like RealDownload) that request offsets out of a linear sequence. SORRY. I was looking through the download logs and I saw a lot of HTTP416 errors which means "bad range, offsets not supported." If you are not using a download program to get BER, please disregard. Thanks, Brad
  5. I'm adding a couple new options to the application to help in game setup... such as "remembering" the .ber file save path and also "remembering" the last set of players' names. Just some creature-features. Anything else before I rebuild the setup and get it out there to all of you? Thanks.
  6. We've had this out for a while and want to solicit your feedback for enhancements and improvements. Based on previous feedback, I added: <LI>drag/drop support for .ber files</LI> <LI>file associations (double-click .ber files to launch the app)</LI> <LI>toggle on/off the application sound effects</LI> Is the program working for you? Are there any other features that could be added to make this application better? Thanks. bradleyh & TeAcH.
  7. I've just posted BER v1.5 build 23 to http://www.badcoinc.com/ber. This build checks the version stamp internal to the application with the version stamp of the game file to ensure features are in sync. Application build 23 supports files generated with BER 1.5.22 and greater. ______________________ I recommend that if you are in the middle of a game DO NOT download and install this update... wait until you start a new game. ______________________ For the full install (if you have not installed any version of BER): http://www.badcoinc.com/download/BERSetup.exe (~5MB) For just the updated binary executable only: http://www.badcoinc.com/download/BER15_ExeOnly.zip (~250KB) Suggestions on improvements and enhancements welcome! 8. Thanks TreeBurst! We're glad you like it and you find it useful. BTW, I'm working on a small modification to the program so it will check the compatibility of the version stamp in the game file against its internal version number. We're trying to make the build of the app as compatible as possible with the two version 1.5 builds that have been released. Thanks again!
  9. TeAcH and I released version 1.5 last night. Check out the new thread for more details.
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Bigdog: Any chance of Mac ver ? Big Dog<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well, probably not. Sorry. But I have been thinking about an Internet version. But Teach and I need to confer on this idea some more. We'll post additional information both here in the forums and also at http://www.badcoinc.com/ber sometime in the future. We need to get a couple more projects completed first. -- Brad
  11. BER can be run in BASIC mode and SECURE mode. Basic mode permits one player of a multiplayer game to setup and monitor the ending turn (by clicking on 'Check Turn' when you get to the correct turn in the game.) With Secure mode, one player sets up the BER game file, enters his password, and then sends the file to the other player. Player 2 enters his password and then can check for the ending turn. He checks once, and then the file has to be sent back to player 1. This mimics how we play CM by e-mail. Playing in basic mode is easier, and faster, but it puts one player in the hot seat for checking the ending turn. This mode is best for when you are playing with your friends. TeAcH and I appreciate your comments. We put some effort into this app to make playing CM even more fun (and less predictable). Thanks, -- Brad
  12. Good news... Most of the code is done. All that is left is to update some of the messages, do some thorough testing on it, and I'll get an update out there. I'm going to release this first to a few people who have been helpful with some suggestions. The bad news... teach seems to be disillusioned again, as referenced by his statement of "usual slaughter" going on. Time to dish him another dose of reality (hehehehe). - Brad
  13. Hi All, I had to go out of town this weekend and I won't have a chance to get version 1.5 completed and tested until next week. Sorry. We'll get an update posted to this thread in a few days. Also, please let me know if you would like to help test version 1.5 by sending me a piece of e-mail to bradleyh_ms@msn.com. I'd like to send out a private build to just a few people in the next couple of days. As always, Teach and I appreciate your feedback and comments. - Brad
  14. There's another topic thread running titled "Badco uninstall?" Both v1.0 and v1.0.35 are uninstalling fine through "Add/Remove Programs." I've tested this on W95, W98, and W2K Pro. If you can give me some details, I'll be glad to do some research.
  15. I used InstallShield to generate the setup program for BER. To remove BER, go into your control panel and select Add/Remove Programs. In the displayed dialog box, select "remove" under "BaDco Endgame Randomizer." The InstallShield wizard will display a message box pop-up and say "preparing to install..." and then it finishes. It does do an uninstall. The only thing left on your system is any created .ber files. I just tested this on Win95, Win98, and Win2K machines this morning. There's a text error in the IS script... it should probably say "preparing to uninstall..." I'll look into where this is coming from in the next release. Curious if you didn't like BER or didn't need it. Let me hear your thoughts. - Brad
