  1. I have had this problem too... In my case it is usually with tanks... I will send them a smoke order and they NEVER carried it out. Granted, i havet used smoke very often, but everytime i order a tank to fire smoke.. it never happens.. Does this happen to anyone else??? Zaff'
  2. This may be getting a little too nit-picky, but im wondering why so many tanks that get knocked out simply just go bang and stop dead in their tracks... no trace of smoke or anything... It is like this in close combat as well.. that use to peeve me so bad too!!! I would think for even a round that goes THROUGH a tank.. there would be a good degree of smoke and shrapnel.. at least for a few minutes... No dont get me wrong.. we are in no position to start demanding MORE features in CM from BTS.. i am so pleased with its unmatched level of detail... thats a given... I guess im just wondering if this 'smoking tank' theory of mine ir correct or not... I havent read or seen many pictures of freshly knocked out tanks in ww2.. but all the ones i have seen have smoke pouring from the inside. If this WERE thte case.. it seems like it would rather be kind of easy to add this to the game.. a little smoke cloud or a shroud of debris upon penetration and thats it.. Just a quibble.. nothing major.. im anxious to see what everyone thinks... oh.. one more thing.. when confronting infantry w/ tanks.. do panzerfausts (from inf. squads) make a 'whooosh' like a panzerschrek? Im curious cause ive been caught near infantry squads with a tank or 2.. to hear the whoosh and not see any shreck teams around... its a DAMN scary sound! any comments are welcome... Zaff'
  3. Very funny i should read this post after the 'epic' battle i played last night. Defending the village of Chambois with more panzers than i knew what to do with... after all the fire and brimstone had settled i had 21 vehicles knoched out whilst watching, literally, a pile of 28 poilsh shermans and halftracks in smolders.. Then i thought... damn, all those ambush spots i had planned accordingly didnt really work out the way they were suppose to. I guess what im saying is that I see your point... even if you win.. you almost certainly have a heavy toll to attribute to your victory. I believe that is how it really was too.. Making the transition from Close Combat to CM is very hard... there are no missions where you can just hide in the bushes and ambush a squad with a tank at close range and laugh as they go down like bowling pins.. There is waaay more thought and calculating involved here.. which really draws the player in even more... I too actually get peeved when i see a tank get knocked out.. even when i see a squad get reduced by a unit!! i probably would have been a very bad leader in war (probably an even more-cautious Montgomery . The fact is, its a game to have fun with.. so go ahead and throw those squads out head-first.. some sacrifices do yield results. Im just thankful that theres finally a game where we are affected by the 'drama' of battle... oh well.. to each his own.. my 2 sence 4 the day
