I used them once by accident in qb, and i'll never go in a battle without them any more! they are highmobile, fast, have loooots of ammo and have quite a bit of armor; and not to forget: they are pretty cheap!. i never spend my points on slow MMG troops any more. the only drawback of the carrier is that if one crewmember is hit its always the gunner and then your carrier is useless. but if you take care of it and don't approach too much to your enemy, it is very useful in the attack as well as in the defense role.

  2. Thats the comment at the Gamesdomain Readers Award (where it has only been thightly beaten by Red Alert 2, The Sims, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Shogun: Total War):

    Fifth (place), and our unofficial GDR Readers' Wargame of the Year, was Combat Mission, polling only 10% less votes than the winner -in fact Combat Mission led the poll for quite some time before running out of fuel. Shades of Robert Shaw. Beating Sacrifice into sixth by a long way was a great achievement for the little guys at Big Time Software.

  3. thanx gamerz for your answers! i've downloaded the demo now: it's not too bad but the tanks with hitpoints is really disappointing. no complexe mathematics. but eyecandy. and the possibility to multiplay with more than 2 ppl! it would be nice to see an option in cm for multiplay withmore than 2 (but were this possible?)

  4. I've seen that combat and communication special abilities for officers do not match in picture and written unit info (they are inverted). i haven't read/seen posts about that yet. which one is taken for the mathematics? btw.: i use version 1.03

  5. do ss troops tend to be more likely to be fanatized (when fanatism allowed by designer) as e.g. Volkssturm? And although there is a good reason in the manual why you cannot assign it to units by yourself, it would be nice for scenario creation (e.g. a really fanatized platoon with high combat value that is meant for abusing their fanatism).

  6. i tried to do that (with island in water with arty spotters substituitng battleships) but you cannot using assault boats they are to slow and cannot carry vehicles. as to be set after landing. if you try use lots of allied troops else the game is over quite quckly (as allied troops tend to rally and then general surrender...)
