1. Top Fionn, email me if you happen to find the Alpha CM + scenario. I've got the terrain finished, but the Allied OOB is a little vague (esp. regarding troop skill level), and the elevation data is difficult to infer from the AAR pics.

 3. Also, make sure that your CAPS-Lock is not on.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by KiloIndiaAlpha: Push up for any more comments.

I think it's a good idea, and could be implemented as a sort of low-grade smoke. Tigers on the Prowl by HPS has this feature, and it adds an interesting additional layer of evaluation while planning an attack... do I have my flanking force put the pedal to the metal (and risk giving away their position), or do I keep them slow and sneaky (with the possibility of being late)? Also, the dust clouds can be used to obscure your forces while on the attack. I have no information on whether dust clouds were a frequent feature on the Western Front, but it seems like a good idea to implement in CM2. I'd rather have BTS working on CM2 rather than adding more features to an already feature-rich product (CM 1).
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Soliloquy: Any luck, Fionn?

I mean, finding the alpha version of CM?
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: I think I still have the Alpha version of CM somewhere on one of my zipdisks.... I'll see if I can find it. If I can then it should be really simple to remake the scenario. (MINUS the US JABO... bastard! )

Any luck, Fionn?
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Rommel22: Airborne ops. using choppers into urban areas is a better choice. But you still have to send in tanks and regulars.

I would recommend "Blackhawk Down" by Mark Bowden. It describes the 1993 raid on Mogadishu by US Rangers. You may recall the video of angry Somalis dragging the bodies of helicopter pilots through the streets. The Rangers didn't have tanks in support, due to political considerations, and it cost them. The book describes modern MOUT rather well, IMO. But then again, I haven't been there.

It doesn't have quite the same rural sound, but it's more accurate. If Forrest wasn't the source of your sig, then never mind me...
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by ColumbusOHGamer: Kraut - Just a thought...were the PzIV's buttoned up?

That's actually one of my favorite uses of light arty. Force the panzers to button up by peppering them with 60mm,81mm or even the 105mm, then smack 'em with bazookas and hidden AT guns. I've used this to good effect in one of the 'delay' operations.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Madmatt: Yes! Like a good little bookeeper I have everything on CMHQ Archived! Just go to the Archives Section and you will find a link to the Original Alpha Battle AAR!!! Madmatt

Great! I'll check it out.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: However... I think those guys took lots of pics of the map in the editor so if you really wanted to you could probably recreate it from scratch. Steve

Are the AAR's still to be found on the web? There were enough pics in 'em to recreate the scenario map, and I think Moon and Fionn gave sufficient detail regarding their respective OOB's to 'clone' the whole shebang.
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: (MINUS the US JABO... bastard! )

No, no, no! The JABO is key!
 12. Is there any chance of getting an updated version of the alpha-code scenario played out by Fionn and Moon last year? Those AAR's were absolutely gripping, and were directly responsible for my pre-order at the time.

My wife just called to tell me that it is here! 2 packages, a priority mail envelope and a tube for the poster.

Yee-Haw! The postman tricked me by putting the manual/CD in the mailbox and the poster in the door, but it's here! [Centreville, VA]
 14. Great! I pre-ordered last May, and I live in Centreville. Looks like I feel a cough coming on... <hack, hack>
