  1. KIA, this mod manager is very impressive so far. I can hardly wait to get my hands on it. Any ideas on when you expect to be finished? I’m currently using the mod manager over at CMHQ, and while it works, its abilities are extremely limited, especially in comparison to what you are attempting. Keep up the good work. PIG
  2. Flame-throwers come in handy with bunkers. Assuming you can get them there and close enough. They are so damn slow. Pig
  3. >For example the first file would be named >JoeBill01.txt, the second JoeBill02.txt and so on. This is a pretty good idea. Unfortunately I've quickly found out that not all players can agree on one system. If you don't mind renaming every file that comes in I guess it could work. I usually create separate folders in the PBEM folder with each player's name on it. When their email and attachment comes in you just place it into their folder. It's not impossible to still screw it up, but I found that it works fairly well. With multiple games going on I never know if I'll be watching a movie and making a move, or just a move, or just watch a movie. Jaakko's idea of looking at the size of the file probably would work. I'm going to pay more attention to those from now on. Pig [This message has been edited by Capitalist Pig (edited 08-11-2000).] [This message has been edited by Capitalist Pig (edited 08-11-2000).]
  4. In fact, I'm currently playing 'Elsdorf' PBEM, this is with v.1.01. When I clicked on my opponents mortar carrier, it displayed an orange target line aimed at a building containing a squad of my men. I recently updated the game to v1.03 and have not seen it again. Also, I played a QB PBEM some time ago, and witnessed something similar with an enemy tank and an area fire target line. Charles, if I see this again I'll save it and send it out to where ever these things are sent to.
  5. I take it most everyone is using the v1.03 CM patch, and this has changed nothing. Besides 'All or Nothing' and 'Chambois', what other scenarios are causing problems? Is there a consensus on which scenarios are relatively problem free? If it's any help here's what has worked for me and hasn't -- as I still believe, for most here, that the problem is Voodo and scenario related. BROWN OUT: Chambois. 3dfx 1.04.00 drivers. NO PROBLEMS: A Walk in Pairs, Elsdorf, First Clash at Cambes, Grafenworf, Grosshau Ridge, Ham and Jam. I'm using WIN95 BTW. [This message has been edited by Capitalist Pig (edited 08-01-2000).]
  6. Yes I've noticed this as well. To be honest with you though, I believe I saw this from time to time before the v1.03 patch. [This message has been edited by Capitalist Pig (edited 07-30-2000).]
  7. Oh one other thing, has anyone noticed a difference after installing the new CM patch? I've just installed it but haven't played 'Chambois' with it yet.
  8. I'm glad I found this thread. I have the same brown out problems with 'Chambois', haven't played 'All or Nothing' yet. I figured it was time for more ram or a new graphics card, but it is definitely Voodo and scenario related. bhoke, are you saying you have these problems with every scenario? What about quick battles? You might want to install some older Voodo drivers. I'm running a PII 350, 64 megs, Voodo 3 2000 PCI, v1.04 drivers.
  9. Looking for a couple of PBEM CMHQ ladder games. Haven't played CM PBEM yet, so I might need a little hand holding for the first few turns. Pig
  10. Well alright! That's excellent news Charles. Hey Steve Clark, are sure about TOAW only sellig about 1400 copies? Seems some what low. What about the endless add on packages they pumped out every month. Gotta be more. I bought the first TOAW, I enjoyed it for what is. Germanboy makes a good point about the 3D eye-candy, but I also think that the tactical level games out sell operational games 10 to 1. To abstract for most of the RTS group. Anyone know how many units SSI sold with Steel Panthers I, II, III. Heck you can't kill that series now that SPWAW is out. Pig
  11. Ahhh, FINALLY! Got it yesterday afternoon in San Leandro (South of Oakland). Still no poster but who cares at this point. I pre-ordered back in Dec. 99. Someone really screwed up this shipping situation. It's simply amazing that people ordering just weeks ago, have their games. I was reading another thread that some guy got his game in Hong Kong like two days ago. Nevermind, I'll shut-up -- don't want to sound like I'm rubbing it or anything. Pig
  12. When I played with the beta demo, the first thing that came to mind was a SL/ASl conversion. I imagine Fionne is correct that CM is not a perfect fit, but it's got to be the closest thing out there. A hell of lot better than any of the SP's or CC's. Really, did we even have to ask if some one would make SL/ASL scenarios? Pig
  13. Oh Trooper I'm definitely a blinkered unsocial philistine. Pig
