  1. >>Unless you've got a Mac.

Then you can image the CD to your hard drive and play with that mounted. Can't stand the wait as the CD spins up/down for some things, so I do this with all my games. Also means I don't have to go digging for the CDs all the time (a significant problem given my lack of organization).

I tried that with CM. Didn't work. It's a pity, because it's so much more convenient.

  2. Regarding the armored cars --

Keep them moving, and watch for flank shots. The American .50 can kill them from the side. The 234/1 (20mm) is quite adept at killing half-tracks other lightly armored vehicles. Because it's main armament is in effect a heavy machine gun, it can hit moving targets while it's moving better than other vehicles firing single shot weapons. The 234/2 (50mm Puma) can kill almost any tank from the side. Use it's speed to get flank shots. The 234/3 (75mm) is good for infantry support. Keep it slightly behind your infantry lines, and use it's speed to provide support where needed.

  3. The problem is that your comparing one tank vs. one tank and making the assumption that points costs being equal, the tanks should be able to square off each other evenly.

    I disagree.

The Tiger is a much better tank killer than the M4A3+. However, the M4 is a better utility vehicle against softer targets. If I had 4 halftracks that had to cross a field, I much rather my opponent have a Tiger shooting at them than the M4. The Tiger's ROF and turret rotation are slower, and the M4 has *three* MG's, one of them being the dreaded .50 cal. The blast effect of the 88 on the Tiger is greater, but the M4 can bring more rounds to target in the same time period.

Look at the Wirbelwind. It costs around 107 (?) points. Would it be able to square off against a M24 Chaffee? Heck no, but which would you rather have when an aircraft showed up? If you've never tried it, see what a Wirbelwind can do against a group of halftracks and trucks. It's truly frightening.

There's more to point value than which two units can kill each other. Overall usefulness is often not reflected in mere statistics.

  4. They indicated there might be a "Vehicle Pack" somewhere down the road. They had only so much time to do the models.

IIRC, not many of the beasts actually saw action on the Western Front. However, there are several vehicles already included (Wirbelwind, Puma, "Super Pershing", Churchill AVRE) which didn't either, but were likely included because modeling them was quicker due to chassis etc. already modeled.

I'd still like to use one though :)

  5. Well, the Gold Demo is out, and it's still an issue.

Is it possible to tell CM that I want it to run in 640x480 with RAVE? I can't set the resolution, as the Rev 1 Wallstreet is fixed at 1024x768. I would be happy to have it run in a smaller window, much like other software (Starcraft for example) does to get the frame rate up. Currently, changing views is painfully slow.

If you have any ideas or thoughts on the matter, let me know. Don't make a big deal of it, because it runs just fine on my B&W G3/350
