  3. Hmmn I posted to this earlier dont know what happened.. At any rate tahnks for looking into this smile.gif

    I was tr4ying to be general about the guns due to my scheming ways biggrin.gif At any rate take alook at the howitzers as well as the 150 -- it sems to take place in a target rich enviiorment alot... Also I noticed that on a direct fire if the target is hit it will quit shooting at it regardless of whetehr it is destroyed

  4. Yah I didnt mean indirect fire but it is more or less the same thing.. I can tseet he target..But any rate these were onboard with area fire. I would target and area/horuse that is occupied but I cant quite get LOS. The targeting will remove it self in favor of pretty much any otehr target that presents itself most of the time, and at times it will jsut quite shooting altogether. This has beeen a problem for me with all forms of onboard direct fire artillery guns.. It is not a 100% but if you play with them alot you will see what I mean.

    I dont know if this is meant to be or not but I have been using the infantry guns and howitzers and I am finding they will rarely hold an Indirect fire order ((trying to kill a non-visible (to the sepcific gun) or partially visible target. I didnt submit a bug reprot because I wasnt sure it wsa a bug as I know this has been adjusted for tanks.. But for infantry guns I cant get them to cooperate and it is costly :P

    can I get some input from you guys so I know if this is what you were striving for ...

    also the target they are giving up the orders for is to me non-threatening compared to what I am trying to destroy... Alot of times it wont shoot 1 round before overriding my orders

  6. I think the whole "gamey" thing is a bit rediculous. To me its is a whiners way out when a player can't figure out how to defeat that "edge creep" of can't stop the "assembled" force of the day in a quick battle.

    For those that want realism there are TUNS of realistic scenarios out there, and alot of them are REALLY well done.

    There is nothing wrong with that and I myself have enjoyed several of them, but many seem to forget that this IS a game, and that not everyone has a PHD in WW2 HIstory.

    Not everyone has this burning desire to recreate history exactly as it was with the exact force on the exact day etc. etc. ad nauseum.

    Alot of players play to compete and have a good time QB's are a good way to test skill of opponents in a pretty evenly matched fight.

    I have seen all kinds of tactics used: crews attacking, heavy use of edges, mixed forces etc etc. I myself don't attack with crews and keep them stationary... but they will defend if threatened. I use what works best for the terrain.. if the edge is the best route of attack for my force, I'd be a bloody idiot to go up the middle.

    To me the most important thing is to compete while having fun! biggrin.gif

    If my opponent does something that is unorthadox and "unrealistic" I remind my self that this "IS" a game and I am not "perfect" either and that Gaminess is a relative thing to the person you are playing, therefore one can never be right.

    If you play comptetitively and you try and dance around all these versions of what is "gamey" and what isn't your will find yourself on the losing end of the stick. IF someone does something you feel is gamey, think about what they're doing and prove yourself as an opponent and find a way to defeat the tactic -- when you can defeat all ploys "gamey" or not then you are truely a goood player.

    this wasn't intended to upset anyone but to enlighten those that can't seem to see anything but "realism" smile.gif

    Remember discuss things with your opponent before the match to avoid hard feelings. If he says anything goes and then whines the problem isn't yours smile.gif

    This is a game not real life so try to enjoy it for what it is; not a recreation of what was. We tend to forget that in reality there was nothing fun about WW2 despite our tenacity to learn. smile.gif

    1st: I HATE CHEATERS!!!!!!!!

    2nd: If I catch you the WORLD will know!!!

    3rd: Have I seen this happening in CM ... so far NO!

    Does this mean I "DON'T" think their should be safeguards against it ... Heck NO!

    They ARE needed regardless of how honrable the commmunity currently is (which to my experience it is in a class by itself)

    Hi Rune smile.gif Just wanted to comment on your dbl blind thing: Unfortunately.double blind does NOT protect you against cheaters.... anybody can run a second Cm in the background and look at everything or do it on another PC. It probably is unlikely but very easy to do. It still reduces to "do you trust your opponent"

    SSPL's Tips for fair play

    Basicallly the best thing I have found to avoid any problems is ...

    *Discuss the paramaters in chat PRIOR to the game creation.

    *DO NOT use ANY sort of RANDOM settings

    *Make sure your opponent agrees to ALT_P during setup if u require it

    *Make sure you agree on the Time limit and game length

    *Gauge his play style between "Anally realistic" or "I'll do anything to win bar cheating"

    *If he is an EXTREME and you cant adapt find another opponent. If he is closer to one extreme than the other come to agreeable handling of situations.

    *Finally never allow computer purchasing for a Ladder Match

  8. The reason I accidently hit the go button is because I take my turns fast.. I don't take all year. In TCPIP this is especially important to not hit it by mistake when using the camera keys. That is why I feel it should be separated. This has nothing to do with idiot proofing ... it has to do with a user frienedly interface. I don't need a message box, but separation would be a nice thing smile.gif
