  1. Yes the war is still on,we Emerald warriors are recovering now from the low and dishonorable attacks from the Salmons.

As we speak our forces are driving them back, our victorious generals have trouble to advance faster than the pinks retreat ;)

    We will winn this war!!

    Hail to our glorious leader!!!

Btw we need you to do service in the Emerald army too.

  2. OK, short review.

My mission was to make contact with surviving units on the other site of the map and bring them back home.

In the middle of the map was a river however it had ice on it so I could bring troops over it.

    There was a VL.

I split up the companies and moved them one by one towards the river, there I unloaded them.

The stugs formed a cover force.

I moved the infantry across and got into a firefight soon.

But with mg teams and mortars supported by stugs the defenders at the VL were soon routed.

After I supported both flanks with B and C compagnie I sendd out A cie to make contact with the 320th.

Some infantry was left at the small vil along the road, these too were quicly killed.

Meanwhile the halftracks from A cie and B cie moved out to pick up 320 together with the trucks.

At the large VL several counterattacks by infantry followed and a small one with some light tanks, these were no match for my stugs and hmg teams.

But I enlarged the ring around the VL since it was a important part of the road.

Around turn 65 I retreated from the VL and the bridge when my last vehicle passed the bridge.

Slowly I withdrew towards the exit points.

    Got a tactical victory.

    Managed to exit most troops.

    Losses:

    2 stugs due to immobilizing.

    8 trucks and 4 halftracks.

several squads and machineguns, sacrifised to cover the retreat over the river.

    Map: great!!

    Balance: perfect

AI: really play with +3 anything less is no match.

HtH: I think this can offer a huige challenge in HtH when playing the Germans.

    Overall:

    great battle!!!

  3. Look at it from a different way,you can use this too fool your opponent too.

Did that in an onionwar battle.

I created a network of trenches in front of my lines with some barbed wire.

2 Fo's a 152mm and a rocketspotter dumped their ammo in no mans land, killing only grass and trees smile.gif

After they were ready with shooting I remanned the trenches ....giving him a nasty surprise.

  5. What I like to see is :

    1) better movement of convoys of vehicles along a road.

    2) engineers ability to blow holes in barbed wire and roadblocks.

    3) button to add vehicle damage in a game /QB same as with ammo and headcount

    4) better representation of vehicle chokepoints,i.e. not so simple for a 60 ton Kingtiger to cross a small wooden bridge without troubles

5)an extra command ,unload/retreat if unit comes under fire(same as the items in the tacops sop menu.

Thats all I can think of for now smile.gif

  7. Yeah,After playing this game since 1998 its a huge miss.

Admiral: Thanks for the service you provided.

If you decide to start a new site,I have all my scenarios saved, and I am sure there will be many people here who did that as well.

Together we can help Keith to create a new site ,if he wants to.

    Henk

  8. yeah,bad feelings,

My only CMBB operation has been downloaded for over a 1000 times.

No reviews though,I myself review most scenarios that I download.

    Why?

Simply because evey designer can contribute his thoughts, positive or negative.

In that way his colleague can deliver a better product next time.

Or simply to give the credit a good battle needs.

  9. From what I learned in the marches around DIekirch,Luxemburg had a huge number of "volunteers"enlisted by the Germans to fight in the east.

Some people there argued it could be over 10000 men,not much of them returned home after the war.

It was considered a dark page in the History of Luxemburg.

Btw may 10th is my daughters birthday too smile.gif

  10. Hi Rob,

Do you allready miss my country? smile.gif

It was nice meeting you ,we should do a game one of these days.

I missed that first part,I also did not know that copies were given to the members.

I do know the dutch army has several games, including tacops(given by me)

I am not sure what the future will bring for the dutch workgroup though.

  11. Hi Sergei,

I dont know whats wrong with the depot.

But I cant seem to log in,if I can I will put a review in. smile.gif

Played the battle roughly the same as Jason did.

Only here my BA got immobilized at the bend in the road, after that I moved the tanks and the HT forward shooting at the woods in front of them(area fire)

This caused the infantry in the 2 patches of wood near the VL to dug in,eventually routing them.

At turn 10 I could rush the armor forward to exit the map.

My infantry could simply finish up the routed troops.

My opinion is that it is a nice battle to play against the AI if you have 20 minutes or so of free time.

Its usefull to train for combined arms attacks IMHO.

I dont think its suitable for head to head.

The defender lacks firepower, and its obvious for a good commander to guess where the ambush would come. The attacker is limited to the road, without freedom of movement.

Which makes it boring for the attacker.

Maybe some daisy chains to hinder the attacker?
