  1. Dear friends, readers and cm enthousiasts.

As you know Steve , Koen and I are the ones trying to get the War and tacticssite going.

A lot of visitors have come by the last months.

many of them copied a lot of content for whatever use.

    We are happy about that.

But....... we cannot do this on our own!

We need imput, input from you!

You can post everything regarding the last 2 centuries of warfare, it doesnt have to be CM.

It can be a picture, a movie, an OOB you found, everything YOU would like to share with the community.

We are not out here to destroy other sites.

So help us make the site!

    Henk ( Stoffel)

  2. Hehehehe,

Sorry for the confusion Matt smile.gif

Well, the first game I played befor tacops was an older one dated from 1995,named across the rhine.

Technically the program was to advanced for than adays pc's causing a lot of crashes during playing.

It was howeever a good game with an interesting campaign system.

It was a mix of Tacops and combat mission, too bad it was not taken further in development.

It did not run anymore on XP too so I gave it away.

  3. http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/scenario_details_link.html?sku=613

Here at the depot you can find my (classic) bulge battle.

If you dont have it,than go and get it ;)

But be carefull, its big,its awesome, its historically correct, the map is as accurate as can be(many thanks to Mc Auliffe for using his original CMBO map).

It has up to a regiment of forces on both sides, for the most part also very up to date.

So you need to have a fst processor and a lot of memory to process the turns.

It plays well from both sides against the AI,but Axis-AI should be the best.

Its very well suited for head to head play.

It allready has a high review!

So I am waiting for yours!!!

  4. I was an observer yesterday for Johns CPX.

Due to some early comms problems I first connected at red team, than sghifted to blue team(promoted to CO in seconds)but in the end shifted to observer status.

I had no real info about this battle, and was very happy to become observer:)

One of the major problems faced yesterday were communication problems, people got thrown out and had to reconnect a few times.

I watched about 7 turns for the game befor I had to leave.

I made some notes on both forces behaviour during that battle.

    Blue:

Bluefor had to defend against a standard regiment(with ATGM tanks)Redfor had to penetrate the defenses.

I received redfors plan later after I left the battle.

Redfor had a very wel thought out plan, which they executed very well during the first turns I saw.

Basically they advanced with other units in backup/overwatch.

Only negative point for me was that they had their artillery assets to close to eachother

making them vulnerable to MLRS fire if spotted.

Blueforce relied on a much simpler plan,They hoped to sneak along redforce flanks in the north and south, and attacking the flanks of the opposing force.

But blue made some big errors.

Maintactical challenge for blue were the bridges, there were 3.

If blue had to retreat they had to do that over those 3 bridges while red had the ability to cross the river anywhere with there amphibious forces.

    Execution:

Without proper recon blue tanks drove away straight to the enemy.

Blue engaged separate vehicles exposing small units to soon.

Blue also attacked redfor with all of its tankassets, doing such an attack against a foe with(199ATGM)is deadly.

Red had its artillery ready and too many teams/vehicles in overwatch.

In the north Blue had luck and made some succes without losses.

In the south they were destroyed very soon.

They also were at risk of being surrounded.

I dont know how the battle ended but after 7 turns Blue lost 24% of its force against red 4%.

    Conclusion:

IMHO blue should have retreated its forces behind the bridges using delayed action and fightingretreat, doing recon to clearly determine what the strenght of the opposing force was, eliminating as much forces as they could with mobile jav teams and artillery.

The tanks and bradleys could have been used to attack isolated groups of vehicles and for local counterattacks, hit and run to defeat the redforces.

Blue did not,and suffered badly those first turns,I would like to know how it ended.

  5. Be aware of the contact for its distance.

Not long ago I lost two tigers.

I heard sound contact from shermans behind them in the north, roughly 200 meters and decided to turn the tigers into that direction.

While they were turning the shermans showed up in the east on their flanks and killed both tigers ... :(

There was a difference in roughly 400 meters from where I heard the contact and where the contacts showed up.

  6. Maybe PAINFBAT did so,but after some reading on other topics it seems to me that you in each topic you got involved with try to demonstrate your views as being the only good ideas.

To me that is very irritating, now giving those facts I think you did the same here.

I was allready waiting for that:,I did nothing but he did it,reaction.

Everybody knows by now that you rather would have seen that the soviets would have taken entire Europe under their control,to show us we are all wrong.Maybe its time you get into a low profile and stop attacking people with your "right"views

After all Stalin killed a few more people then Hitler.............so we are all happy we were liberated by the western allies and not the Russians.
