2.
quote:
at least you can rely on the Germans (Cross of Iron, Stallingrad (first 3/4 anyway)to try to make a decent war movie

IIRC Correct, Cross of Iron is an european production (UK/Germany) but Sam Peckinpah is definitely not german wink.gif

And Fionn, I do agree about Sophie Marceau acting, She eclipsed Denise Richards completly but even an half dead hamster could act better than denise (and look better ahh not sure biggrin.gif)

  3. Around March 99, in "Cyberstratège" magazine . This magazine was dedicated to computer strategy games, It doesn't exist any more by itself, It is now part of the tsrategy magazine (french) "Vae Victis" (ain't no pig latin here cool.gif ) which gave 5 out 5 review on CM and gave it a breakthrough award for wargaming biggrin.gif

  4. Fauts are fired in self defense or if you target the tank and that your infantry is brave enough to execute the order.

Shrecks have to be targeted to the tank.

PS : AI made you remember that one of the great assets of a tank is mobility wink.gif

  7. Ah you spent some holidays, in Millau, nice place ?

The Guy you're talking about is our new secret weapon, He is called Jose Bové (Model 1) only a prototype armed with 2 20 kg Roquefort launcher. enough said that he is the ultimate weapon of modern warfare. Who else could have help setting up such nice riots in Seattle and Davos ???

  8.
quote:
As for French/English/Polish tactics at the beginning of the war, you can well nigh forget about that, I would expect. We are all playing with 20-20 hindsight here, and the better players have learned from the mistakes that e.g. the Commonwealth made in tank-infantry cooperation early in Normandy. And to program the AI in such a way to deliberately recreate these mistakes is maybe very difficult. Another factor is that many of these mistakes were made on levels outside of CM's scope

I totally agree with you Andreas, problem was not the tanks, nor the men but rather the doctrine used by french high command that was irrelevant at this time and that is beyond CM scale wink.gif.

That is also why accurate recreation of actual events cannot be achieved in CM (ie Villers-Bocage).

BTW Andreas, we do not torch Mac Donalds, we unbuild them in a sort of reverse engeneering effort wink.gif. And Brigitte Bardot rolleyes.gif, now we speak about Sophie Marceau or Laetitia Casta...

  9. I found out that Bazookas and Piats are very dangerous when range is below 100M, keep your tank still and you are DOOM..ed (Sorry couldn't resist wink.gif)

Well if the AFV is moving chance are more lower that you hit anything except on ambush

I do not feel they are overrated by any way biggrin.gif

As you stated Pascal, IIRC, you could no aim the PIAT downward or the charge will fall (some kind of british humor) and it is not modeled in CM nor is the gun depression limit of any tanks but it took God seven days to make the world and it seems he may need another attempt to make it perfect wink.gif

  10. Hi Andreas,

Your french is way better than my german, all I can remember is : "Tut mir leid !" and "Wollen sie mit mir tanzen frauleïn" (all with a thick french accent)

Sure the germans did a good job to keep up french tank in good shape wink.gif, free french even used "liberated" B1-BIS to conquer Royan in 1944.

As to the Paris 1900 world exposition, I believe H39 recieved a runner up award, only to be beaten by an italian tankette or some kind of early panzer with crappy design and no main gun biggrin.gif

That is why considering our achievement in tanks, we builded until the last 80's the successfull AMX-30 which was the only "modern" MBT who feared HMG fire just like our football players feared mighty europeans teams

Luckily we are now both better both in tank design and in football tongue.gif (We arrre the Chaaampionsss !!! with thick french accent again)

PS : Andreas, is that true you are Marie Curie Boyfriend ? tongue.gif

  11. Well , I am starting a H39 support group as I cannot stand to see this tank considered as utter crap by a lot of board members wink.gif

You need balls of steel and big nerves (or perhaps the contrary) to roam the countryside with a tank that was sub par already in 1940.

So if you want to manifest your support to the much despised H39 please post below. biggrin.gif

  12. Well, free poles and free french were part of the theater of operation described by CMBO and on an historical (and marketing wink.gif)point of view it would have been a hard design decision to left them out as there was "little" work to be done to include these nations.

Just have a look to http://appui-feu.panzershark.com and you will find very good scenarios featuring french troops.

  13. Well as they at M****soft, it is not a bug, it's a feature biggrin.gif

Well the points are if IIRC for the defender,

and the attacher gets these points affected by a factor depending on the mission of the attacker.

Points are even only with a meeting engagement setup wink.gif
