  1. Facts! We don't want do stinking facts!

    We want speculation and innuendo.

We want to beat the dead horse.

    These are the facts.

CMBO was a great game and still is a good game.

    CMBB > CMBO

    CMAK > CMBB

    CM2 will be > CMAK

If you have any doubts then simply don't buy it.

And as Steve said, any way you cut it, $45US/500+ hours = cheap entertainment

  2. Interesting stuff.

A simple calculation shows that at longer ranges, determining the range is vital.

I don't have the exact muzzle velocity of the 88 but let's assume it was 1000 m/s.

    Using d = 1/2 * a * t * t we get (not taking into account shell velocity drop due to friction)

    Range Shell Drop

    800 m 3.2 m

    1000 m 4.3 m

    1200 m 7.1 m

So at longer ranges, missing the range by 200 m could cause a miss if you are firing at centre of mass. In this example, it the target was at 1200 m and you dialed in 1000, the shell would impact 8 feet below where you expected.

  3. I just uninstalled 43.51 and went back to 30.82.

CMBB now works well again. With 43.51 I was getting bad stutter even in medium sized QB's.

Just ran and finished Royal Opponent (7900 pts on a large map) and it ran smoothly. smile.gif

Oh well, loose a few fps in FB to gain playability in CMBB.

  4. 1) 'anti-cencorship' -mods - this has been greatly debated in the past. The bottom line is that for some European countries, it is against the law to show or depict certain things.- for instance swastikas. As CDV is the European distributor and there are only 2 versions of CMBB, BFC has no choice but to obey the law, hence the European version. If you do a search, you will find the reasoning behind this. Additionally, you should find some mods that can change some of this.

    2) Re: duplicate bmp's. CMBB contains an amazing variety and number of weapons covering the Eastern Front. However, not all were modeled even though the weapon in question is included in the game. This was a business decision done in order to release CMBB in a timely manner. As this is purely visual, it does not effect gameplay. More will be added in future.

    3) If you have documented evidence of weapons or vehicles being used or being ready to use, I suggest that you contact BFC and present it to them. History shows that they are more than willing to correct any proven oversights.

  5. Just a quick thought.

"First stupidity stunt: a squad at the front opens fire at roughly 20 meters - but it's aiming at a squad heading AWAY from the forest, instead of the squad that's running straight at 'em!"

You deployed the squad in tall pines. Did you check los on the 2 incoming squads? The German squad in question may not have had los on the incoming Soviet squad because of the pines and instead fired on the threat, which was the other Soviet squad in the open.

20m is not that far and you can spot fairly well into pines so it would take pretty good fire discipline not to open up on the threat.

Seems pretty reasonable AI to me.

  6. What rune said.

I was thinking the same thing that this was a bug, but then I read the manual :D .

If you have that factor at anything but 100% you will get extra points to initially buy, but those units are considered lost on the way to the fight. You end up with the number of points you were originally intended to get in men and equipment.

So in a 1000 point QB with random casualties, you might get 2000 points to spend, but 1000 points of men and equipment never make it to the fight.

  7. "Originally posted by Andreas:

It may have escaped your attention, but Wittmann died in June 1944.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And killed by a Canadian, at that."

Actually, I believe it was not a Canadian though Canadians were in the area.

From what I have read, Wittmann's Tiger was destroyed by fire from tanks of "A" Squadron of Northamptonshire Yeomanry.

The date was August 8, 1944.

  8. IMO (not speaking for BTS), this will not happen.

CBMO is finished. There would be no way to give CMBO the same commands as CMBB, for example, shoot n scoot, hull down, cover arc etc without a major rewrite of the CMBO code.

I personally would rather see their resources going to either the next installment of CM or the 'complete' rewrite to give us CMII.
