  2. ok, first... do a search on your C: drive (or where ever you have CMH installed) for: greenasjade
a subfolder  should show you CMHhelper
    mine was C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\GreenAsJade\CMHelper
i renamed it in case i screwed something up, (i read someone on BF Forum said delete it)
i just added xxx in front of the name :)

    then back to CMH
    C:\Program Files\cm-helper-1.7.5

find the cmh.exe and double click... it WORKED!!
i did have to go back in and reset the paths to battles in progress... but so what?!

  3. > BATTLEFRONT/Steve :)

ok.. here's something i'm sure you know, but throwing it out there because i think it might help some (me incl) on the module/pack/upgrades/ etc etc question.

simply stated, some folks are word oriented (?) and some are graphic oriented.. at least there are 2.. i in particular can relate much quicker to a drawing of a concept than i can when it is described to me in detail with words.

so the idea i propose, if such a thing is possible or desirable by BFC.. is a picture/layout of the way you've described the way CM and all the add-on's work... a bubble diagram if you will. show the big picture, and the way the smaller bubbles come off each and possibly the way they relate to each other, and to the different platforms (CMBN-CMFi- the CW add-on- MG and so on)

    does that sound plausible?

as a retired architectural drafter, and the old saying a picture is worth a 1000 words, i wonder if it wouldn't at least save you 50% of your headaches repeating yourself to explain :)

  4. Are you guys having performance issues on Macs?

my son (Erik) is still waiting for the fix that will allow him to load CMBN -at all- on his MAC... but only since AuGUST :P

yes, he has a ticket open, and it was 'closed' since he didn't respond, now he's responded saying he assumed it would stay OPEN till the issue was addressed (IE fixed)

he's held off after Commonwealth, as there's no point... and frankly, since i was the reason he (A) bought the sim, and (B) the reason I bought the sim and all the add-on's.. i would think it behoove BFC to get those MAC guys up and running!

2 cents, speaking for my son who got me interested in CM :P

  5. in a PBEM (UK Loamshires v. Hannovarians)

check out this 'parking' job! he did well to get it in here, but it's not a garage :P

i did not intend for it to drive there.... but it looks like despite precise directional orders, he decided to try a shortcut.

i didn't think this was even possible!

the angle in the road possibly was confusing to the command, but i gave fairly small direct increments (length of vehicle) to maneuver around the corner.. tho it wasn't even 90dg's.

now to see if he can get out! :o

  6. probably covered, and complained elsewhere but i have a moment to add 2pfennings.. a 60mm mortar crew has its gun KO'd... ammo shows intact... a 2d 60mm crew has used up its ammo... i move the tube-less crew to the ammo-less gun- expecting them to share and put the tube back in action... nope.. no such coverage in the programming :( unless i'm over looking some method to force this to happen ('acquire' was greyed out)

  7. I've been reading Steven Pressfield's "Killing Rommel".. (he wrote the fantastic book GATES of FIRE - about the 300 Spartans). Killing Rommel is a good book, but much too short, and not enough tactical writing of desert warfare.. none-the-less good read.

the reason i mention that is my PC is 6 years old and it sometimes takes 2 or 3 minutes for a turn to load... so while its loading i'll read a couple pages.

but here's the compliment, the Music that plays while CMFI is loading is a perfect match for the book :) not sure why, or how that works, maybe some other WW2 desert movie had a similar theme?

bottom line, nice job on the opening sound track..

  8. you know what would be fantastic? if units away from HQ radio units, when they spot enemy troops, would 'retain' that knowledge, (foot/veh/armor) without YOU knowing it, UNTIL that unit came in contact with an HQ unit. So you'd have to give orders whether to engage, lay low, or fall back report.. a true use of Recon units!

then when informed of what it saw, when it saw it, and Where... depending on the units' level of competency, it would report in a level of accuracy to match.

ex: green unit, sees a Tank... on contact with HQ unit it reports TIGER! when it really only saw a P4.. or a Squad but reports Platoon... but if Regular or Vet, it would give you correct spotting info....

  9. i did a search and came up empty for the exact 'suggestion' i'd like to make... that is in doing a covered arch, could we not have a secondary menu ask " armor - soft veh - men " ?? it disappoints me when my MG's covering a zone open up on Armor.. or an ATG on a group of men... when i want them to stay hidden for the tank that is creeping along behind the men.

  10. i would like to see an option to end by withdrawal.... as long as units could disengage and safely get away.. rather than "surrendering" just to end the game... asking for cease fire is also Unrealistic in my opinion, as it doesn't allow a firefight to end - but only a 'time out'.. but for why?

some would say 'you can do that now'.. but i don't think getting off board is now a function is it? so you get to board edge and ??? get slaughtered?

  11. save the game at that point. turn to her, smile and say "sure, lets go"... on the way, you explain how important the sim is, it gives you greater understanding to the sacrifices of young men that helped keep the country free..and that when at the next (fill in the blank) function how you feel you'll be able to explain how terrible it really was, and you're speaking of that only thru a sim... a very realistic sim, but still, not anywhere as important as she is.

  12. i use dropbox

    i'll play either side

i live in the EST of USA but am usually good for at least 1 turn per day

feel free to pick a scenario - my only limitation is size of battle. i've played up to medium... and probably could do next step up, but not sure and would hate to have to end a battle because my video card (nVidea GT430) couldn't handle it :P

PM me and i'll supply my email addy

  13. Hi sarge. Sorry if I was a bit abrasive!! But you are also correct. The German's had the THEORY for sure! ....

we're good - i am never put off when someone presents facts to prove i'm wrong :) and i try to take any 'assumed' abrasiveness, as an internet limitation of delivery. so no worries there either ~ you'd have to say something that is insulting....then say I meant that as an insult for me to take it that way :)
