  1. Not really sure what the address is. The cabin is a friend of a friends. I'm just along for the ride. Maybe I could start a signal fire at nights and have somebody air drop it to me. Although I might have to fight the bears off to retrieve it. Then there is the problem of the condensation off the beer can smearing the ink. smile.gif

Looks like I might just have to take another day off after I get back.

Anyway good luck in the war. I am outa here.

  2. Well since Moon posted message #4000 we seem to be averaging about 100 messages a day and accelerating. I'm leaving on vacation to a remote cabin in the U.P. of Michigan. No phone, computer, internet ect.. Just beer, a sauna and an icy lake to jump into after drinking the beer in the sauna. At this pace when I get back I'm going to have about 1000 messages to get caught up on, not to mention several episodes of As the War Turns. I can't imagine what its going to be like once the game comes out? Are you guys going to be offering any counceling. 1-800-CeaseFire

  3. I think you just answered my next question. I was thinking that all you swapped with the opponent was your orders and then each side would run the simulation themselves, but I guess each computer could get different results, right. So in actuality one person will be hosting the game.

Do you know yet how big these files will be.

  4. This probably deserves to be in the cheating thread awhile back but just thought of it while reading this thread so here it goes.

If you run the execution phase more then once with the same orders are you garanteed to obtain the same combat results due to any (if any) random number generators.

You guys have probably already considered this but I could just see it. "Oops my tiger just got taken out by a Sherman." REBOOT. Tiger destroys 3 Shermans in 3 shots "thats better I'll send that one."

  5. Hi,

Just wondering what kind of influence if any will armor units have on nearby infantry. Can they be used as a sort of Command and Control outlet to increase the efficiency of surrounding infantry. What led me to this was the scene from SPR where the Tiger Commander is obviously giving orders to the supporting infantry.

Along these same lines were there major differences in doctrine between the different countries about the use of armor late in the war. It seems that the Americans for instance used armor to support the infantry. Under control of the local infantry commanders once they moved up to the lines. While the Germans used infantry to support and protect their tanks.

If this is indeed the case. As it seems to be in Kellys Heroes smile.gif Would german tank commanders at CMs level have a positive influence on directing supporting infantry units while American Infantry leaders would have a positive effect on supporting Armor units.

    Just curious.

  6. Looking way into the future now.....

When you do the Early years of the Western Front "module" (proposed fourth in the series I believe) do you think it might be possible to incorporate it into a '39-'45 module that would include all the advancements in the preceding modules. Thereby giving new life to the '44-'45 era.

Lots of water under the bridge before that happens I realize, but it seems like a good place to debut "Combat Mission II-The Next Go Around"

  7. 747-Did the same with a B-29 Model. It was packed with Black powder, fire crackers and bottle rockets. Wish I had filmed it, it was probably better then the special effects in Air Force one.

Lead Soldiers-Been there done that. The molds got detroyed in a house fire. Ummm it wasn't my fault.

Oh and then there was the lighter fluid tin can tennis ball mortars. Tell me that wasn't dangerous.

  8. Sorry I couldn't help out with the model contest. All of my models met their demise in combat out in my parents garden. I didn't figure my model of a f-14 really fit into the era. Oh I take that back I guess they saw action in the pacific but not the ETO. If it wasn't for that darned storm they could of saved the day on Dec. 7th.

  9. Will there be a way to keep track of your record and statistics against certain players. If I remember right The Perfect General did this. Also The Perfect General had a campaign system where both players played each scenario (battle/campaign in CMs case) from both the Red and Blue sides. After that the supreme victor was determined. This might be an easy way to add another layer of depth to the game. It would be nice to set up these personal tournaments yourself. That is which battles to use.
