  1. Ah, good, someone posted in the main thread. The answer is that you have to run the Activation screen twice, and activate once with the original key, and then with the new key. (Reverse order of activation is acceptable too.) There is no prompt to tell you this, but the game will work after the second code is input. Don't worry if you've put one code in multiple times, it will still work when the second code is put in.

  2. Don't delete it. Having a similar issue here. What did you read that fixed it for you? What steps did you take to fix it?

I installed the full CMSF2 Upgrade suite, then fired it up and Activated it with original CMSF1 key. Activation reported successful. Hit play. Got window with firing vehicle pic in it, no text or anything else. Window was hung. Closed it, fired it up again - and it wants me to activate again. Same process ensues.

What should I do to fix this?

  3. Odd to think that every dime I pay in taxes from now until the day I die will be going to go towards paying for the development of that 'free' game.

Well, the Army designs all sorts of games. This is most likely an adaptation of an existing game that was modified for recruitment.

Even if it's purpose-built, if it brings in people, it's worth the money.

At least now you won't be worried any of your money will be going to any other things that bother you. Small price to lose all that frustration! :D

  4. I've played the first scenario (Archipelagoes) and

I'm enjoying the game. However, I noticed that

after I gave the two other vehicles orders to move

across a bridge to an island, when they got there

they were engaged by a unit. In reacting, one

somehow broadsided the other, and they started

flailing around stuck together. I had to jump into

    one to seperate them.

After that, they would not go where I ordered them.

    Eventually I got one moving in the right direction;

the other one turned around and headed back the

    way it had come.

Not sure why, just wanted to ask whether there is

still work going on with the movement algorithms.

:) Any other oddities worth knowing about for

    a new player?

  5. I also just got it and am happily driving around. Very immersive so far. I like the fact that I can control the engine by sound, just like a car with a manual stick. Makes things a lot easier when driving, and speaks well of the simulation of the engine. Graphics are very nice too - a few jaggies on the horizon but plenty of brush and grasses and the like to catch the eye.

Oddly, the tracking site never registered the package, so I didn't know it would show up today. Luckily it fit in the mailbox.

  6. I've had a number of letters and packages badly

damaged by the US Post, although I have to admit

they are better than they were 20 years or so

ago. But my favorite is one that was mailed by a

friend from Switzerland. He went on a trip and

    sent me a letter.

3 weeks after he got home, the remains of the

letter arrived in an official Swiss Government

envelope. It had been literally shredded on

one side, with about 40% just gone, and the rest

fringed and covered with grease. A letter in

handwritten German accompanied it - I think it

may have had French too. Apparently, the piece

had entered one of their high speed sorters and

lodged in the center. The staff had to literally

dis-assemble the entire machine to get to it,

a process which took them days to accomplish.

The letter was to explain why my letter was

late, and was deeply apologetic. Here my

buddy knocks a Swiss post office offline for

a week or more, and *they* apologize to *me*

    for being late! Now...That's service!

I've never received an apology from the US

Post office for any damaged mail, fwiw.

  7. It's probably significant that Mussolini described

Fascism as more properly called "Corporatism",

when he wrote his famous encyclopedia entry on

the topic. But that's different from free-market

    Capitalism-with-a-large-C, because while Fascism

assumes a wise, paternal government subsuming

industry to provide for the goals of the state,

today's capitalism views the state as a tool

to achieve the goals of industry, in America

expressed by an undertone of hope that the

inconvenient government will dry up and take

    it's regulations with it.

The Nazi's social policies and community

structure had what seem to me to be socialist

qualities - everyone worked or served somehow,

low level informers monitored political leanings,

etc. But the overall government was definitely

Fascist in it's control of the people (a sort

of twisted paternalism) and also in it's efforts

to manage the industrial output in all critical

    sectors to state goals.

  8. Wow, first post in a while, this demo has really

grabbed my attention. :) Fantastic job guys!

Anyway, I was looking at a T-34 in the game,

and the tank was unbuttoned, but the hatch

cover was invisible! I've been told that the

Sovs usually designed their tank hatches to be

bullet shields, and so they sit upright in front

    of the commander when open.

I'm sure there is some good reason this is not

portrayed. Is it a general thing or limited

to the T-34? Inquiring minds want to know...

  9. I am able to run the demo, however, about

30% of the textures are missing - just white.

For example, infantry have textured uniforms,

but no faces or weapons. Shermans have sides

and guns, but no fronts or tops. Some buildings have fronts and backs, but no sides.

My system is a P2-400 with an STB Velocity 440 AGP (Riva TNT) card running the latest

Nvidia Detonator 3.53 drivers and DirectX 7.

I have 128 megs of RAM and I'm running W98.

Sound seems fine, I'm using a Turtle Beach

    Montego.

I have tried turning hardware acceleration

down a notch, moving texel origin to upper

left, changing mipmap levels to 0, 4 and 12

in the direct3d settings. Not sure what

else to try. Everything else seems functional.

    Any info appreciated.
