  1. I checked under operations and battles, I didn't see "hell of a licking".
  2. Anyone know where I can SPECIFICALLY find scenarios based on this series??? I played the Market garden one and enjoyed it, I wanna see some more!!!
  3. I played the fourth one in the set and found it quite enjoyable. Anyone know where I can find the others?
  4. Uh..I like the Scenario Depot, but I have a silly question. How do you download the files?!?!?!? all I can do is read the reviews. http://www.dragonlair.net/combatmission/
  5. I would like to try an IP game, but I was wondering if it is possible with an ISP that assigns addresses? If I get the dynamic address I am assigned, could I play? Never tried it before.
  6. Looking to play a few games by PBEM. I have had CM since it was published, but pushed it aside till now (yeah, I'm weird like that). Now I am ready to get back into it. I am a veteran wargamer and would provide a challenge for an beginner to intermediate. Looking to play tiny to medium scenarios that have not been played by either party. I've looked and there are PLENTY to choose from. Also looking to just have fun, so no bad sports (IE sore losers OR winners). If you are interested, drop me a line and we can discuss particulars. Would return turns within a 48 hour maximum period. Ebonyknigh@aol.com [ 07-09-2001: Message edited by: Moonpie ]
  7. Is this site still up and running? My link for it doesn't work for it anymore. Haven't been there in almost a year.
  8. Where is the largest repository of CM scenarios. I used to go to The Gamer's Net, but they don't seem to be up anymore (or I have a disabled link). Some URL's please?
  9. Where is the biggest scenario archive for this game. And before you say combatmission HQ, thier "CMHQ scenario depot", it doesn't work. I get the instructions in the top half to upload/download and then it times out. Thier forums seem to be down too. Is it just me? Anyway, where can I get lots of scenarios?
  10. do these camo updates appear ALL the time or only when snow is selected? In other words, am I going to have these tanks sporting snow camo, in green pastures?
  11. Thanks! Where can i get the "Dam" scenario, that Matt made? One of your sites makes mention of it.
  12. Hey, where are all the user scenarios that everybody and thier grandma would be making once this puppy came out? Quick battles are nice, but I like playing historical scenarios and CMHQ only has two?!? Any other sites that has a wider variety?
  13. But I just played the Gold Demo yesterday. I played the Alpha demo a few times when it was first released and have periodically dropped in here. I was playing chance encounter and by the end of the battle I was wondering where all the damn infantry was coming from! As the battle went on, more and more seemed to show up in the forests, until...... I looked closely at them and saw they were Dead Bodies! What happened??? I thought that BTS swore that hell would freeze over before they put bodies in the game. Why the complete 180???? What about the mantra from Fionn, that the frame rate or some other such gobbldy gook, PREVENTED this??? Enquiring minds want to know.
  14. wo-men? Oh...I think I have heard of them. The ones with the long hair and the two big bumps on thier chests.
  15. Hey, can't we just let dead bodies lie? Pun intended.
  16. I have been over at ClubSSI on thier BBS for a week or two now. I was personally looking very foward to the game, since I loved the CC series and they were about to recreate my favorite battle of the war. After struggling to download the demo (thier ISP original servers crashed with the amount of requests). Everything looked excellent. Graphics looked good. I could even get over the cheezy voices (I like the Germans) and equipment labels. But when I tried to move my vehicles across a bridge and my panther couldn't. I just lost it. How many times has this been pointed out a it's biggest flaw? At the very least the problem could have just been the same, but it has been getting progressivly worse in each iteration?!? The CC people are defending the game, which I can understand. But when I (as a very recently reformed and diehard CC fan) asked some serious questions about the increasing problem with the AI plotting, I am simply ignored. If they can't answer the question with Grognard history, it just doesn't seem to be a problem to them. I don't understand. I think that says PLENTY. Good luck to you guys on your game. I don't know if I will get it yet, not having a demo of the game (no, not the BETA demo, I have it). But I do like your manifesto and praise you guys for sticking to your ideals instead of selling out. I like military history, but I definitely wouldn't classify myself as a Grognard (to the level of many here). Can anyone explain to me why people can continue to blindly like a game that continues to get worse? I mean, I too did my share of yelling at the computer when my tank would drive backwards toward the enemy in previous CC iterations, but not being able to cross a bridge now? Why?
  17. Gotta disagree with you on Sierra. Ceasar III and Pharoah have to be two of the best strategy games around. But other then that series. I wholeheartidly agree. I tried CCIV and I love the series. I got really excited when I heard that it was based on the Battle of the Bulge. I really love playing the germans. The graphics were good and everything was OK until I tried to move my tank across the bridge. EWWWWWW...I won't even go into it. Then I tried my half tracks and other vehicles. I am disgusted. One of the best strategy series (hey...we have ALL tried them) and they let it go to pot! I never thought I would actually not get a Close Combat game, but this is it. The most annoying, stupid and requested problem to be fixed and it is worse than ever!!! They won't get full price on me for this game. It is really ashame. BTW. Combat Mission is okay. Maybe the full version or the real demo will change my mind, but not being able to gauge your progress by at least a body count or accurate numbers is frustrating and disorienting. They sure aren't listening to us on that. But hey, I ain't got to buy it either. Somebody will make this type of game right someday. [This message has been edited by Moonpie (edited 11-23-99).]
  18. Well I am a CC veteran. Have'em all except CCiV. I was really looking foward to it because I like the Germans and they never got a fair shot except in Market Garden (CCII). Liked the graphics...they looked improved. It was hunky dory until I tried to drive my tank across the bridge. That snapped it for me. That has to be the BIGGEST complaint of all in the series and it actually seems to be worse?!? That tears it for me. $19.99 bin here I come for once!
  19. Yeah, gotta go with the others here. My first time, the hellcats messed up my plans real good. I wasn't expecting them and got clobbered. Good point. The AI isn't a replacement for a human being that can remember it's mistakes each time it plays. But if the full version has surprises like that...I won't be winning many battles the first time.
