  1. I am amazed at how many names on the Vietnam Wall were due to "accidental self-destruction." Will weapon malfunctions include the disasterous effect of firing a rifle grenade with ball ammunition? How about dropped grenades. I was thinking that strange close combat results could be explained by such events. Will explosives be vulnerable to hostile fires? This means bangalores, flame throwers, ect. How about tanks running over their own troops?

  2. Fifty-eight years ago today, Operation Barbarossa began. Hitler said that the world would hold its breath. Well, the world caught its breath in time to crush Hitler's country and reduce it to ashes. Now we hold our breath for Combat mission. This invasion is different. Our enemies are corporate mediocraty and the industrial belief that ideas are generic. Anyway, happy Barbarossa Day. Without this day, Hitler could have kept the Third Reich intact and created a dark ages in Europe that might still exist today.

Hopefully, we'll soon be celebrating Beta Day.

  3. Will we be able to leave a camera at the POV of a unit and have it move with the unit? That will create newsreel-style footage. Great stuff. You guys should post some player scenario footage on the site. How about if it was already in movie format? It could be like a preview of the scenario.

  4. Living in Arizona as I do, I know many people who work for Intel. By next Summer, they will have a 1,000 Megahrtz chip on the market. When I heard this, the first thing I thought of was individual soldiers and brigade-level battles. Just dropping the news, if it is news. :)

  5. When I was little, I tried to make napalm. Fortunately, the chipped pieces of soap did not gel in the gasoline.

Anyone own The Guns of Navarone playset? It was a big mountain with two huge guns and tons of soldiers. There was even an elevator in the back. Also included was a plastic and string wench that brought ammo to the guns (they did not fire). The hook at the end of the string went through the ammo stack's plastic loop (it was a little pyramid that looked like stacked shells) and was wound up by hand with a little plastic crank. After the battle, I would take the German commander and try him for war crimes. The hook happened to fit perfectly aroung his neck, and I would hang him for his depradations. I'd tie the string off on a notch and leave him dangling there when dinner-time came. My dad found him hanging there, once. He laughed, "my kid is hanging Nazis, how much better can life get?"

Any other seekers of justice in this group?
