  1. Hello all, I am a frequent viewer/lurker on the forum, but I rarely post. I am posting now because I am looking for a computer programmer to help me create a companion game to CMBN. I have already had a brief conversation with Battlefront about my idea and there was interest. For obvious reasons I am not going to go in to greater detail about the game in a public forum, but if you (or someone you know) would like to help create a computer game please send me a list of computer programming qualifications at cmbnrocks@gmail.com . For those concerned about privacy, I am not trying to get PII (Personally Identifiable Information), but I do need enough info to reasonably verify credentials. I will sort through the applicants and send select applicants a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Once the NDA is completed I will disclose the full nature and scope of the proposed game, and we can discuss further details at that point. Thanks, Choppinlt
  2. Does anyone know an easy way to crop .dat map files? For instance, a person can create a 30kmx30km map (complete with terrain values), but I may only want a 12kmx12km section of the bigger map at any given time. In short I enjoy campaigns. To me they can provide greater intrigue to battles other than simply trying to pound each other in to oblivion. So I would like to be able to crop and/or cut and paste .dat maps. As it currently stands the .bmp file can be altered as desired, however terrain values must be added all over again. Is this incorrect? Does anyone out there have a creative way around this or other ideas?
  3. I am guessing that I had received no further response from Major because he thought I was an idiot...perhaps he is correct. I figured out last night what the problem was. The key issue was the pregame preferences that I chose, and last night after another couple of rounds playtesting I figured out that the BMP's were not firing because they were using the standard AT-5 (i.e. not the AT-5i), and the standard AT-5 can't even penetrate an M-1 from the side. Yeah, yeah, go ahead, laugh at the Air Force guy. abneo3sierra, thanks for the response. For the record, my guys were watching the M-1's from a woods, so the BMP's could see, but were not seen...and the BMP's weren't feeling suicidal.
  4. As an experiment I played TF Arsenault as a hotseat game. I had 4 platoons of BMP's get in to good defensive position, unload their infantry and watch for the enemy. Then I had a platoon of M-1's come around a woods, visible from over 1500m and remained visible the whole time as they came around and went past the BMP's at about 700m. In other words, the M-1's were visible and moving with their sides exposed to the BMP's at an optimal range. Then I stopped the M-1's, flank exposed, and let a few turns play out to see if the BMP's ever decided to fire. They never did. I will add that none of the Preferences 3-9 were checked pregame. Would that make any difference?
  5. Thanks for the info. However the AT-5i has 1350mm penetration and the M-1 has 1300mm protection, so I assumed the AT-5 would be shot. Is that not the case? There also appeared to be side shot opportunities. In solitaire play the BMP's will fire and have taken out some of my M-1's before. So I'm not sure what the issue is...any further thoughts?
  6. I recently purchased this game and I really enjoy it. However, my opponent and myself (we took turns with OPFOR) both experienced our BMP's NOT firing ATGM's at visible, in-range, moving/fully exposed M-1's. The Fire Control was at default (i.e. weapons were set to fire at any target at any range). Any thoughts as to why this occurred? Again, this happened to both of us, not just a one time occurrence.
  7. Yes I was talking about the M-1 vs. T-80 matchup in the late 80's. That corresponds to when the west decided to equalize a conventional matchup against a Soviet invasion instead relying on the threat of tac nukes. Though 48's vs 54's could be fun as well. Anyway, I agree that there could be some amazing battles for those that enjoy fully mechanised warfare!
  8. Does anyone know if there has been any consideration for a campaign game similar to the CMC concept for CMSF? Has there been any consideration to having a Cold War expansion? People could fight the largest mechanized war that never happened! After all, it's mostly the same equipment as CMSF just a bit lower tech.
  9. I did a quick search and didn't find what I was looking for, though I'm sure it has been asked. What is the next step for CMSF? What further expansions are in the works, if any?
