  1. Great.

Once you extract the files, they rearrange themselves into the configuration that they were aggregated.

Once you unzip you’ll see a new ‘Campaign’ folder.

Take the folder labeled ‘_1941-42 Battle for Moscow’ and the file labeled

‘1941-42 Battle for Moscow.cgn’ and move them to your Campaign folder.

So, you unzip and the extract gives you a new Campaign folder, inside it is a folder and a file, just move those two items into your WaW Battlefront\ Strategic Command 2 Weapons and Warfare Expansion\ Campaigns folder.

Let me know how that works.

  2. Yes, it is in the campaigns sub-folder.

Just use the extrtact command. This will place all the files and folders in the correct spots.

So, copy/download into the campaigns sub-folder, right clicks on the winzip fike and select "Extract All."

Let me know if this works....

    What campaign are you downloading?

  3. Hi,

    This is my experience:

I had to use a second logon and password. You need one separate from the forums.

I used title for the title of my scenario. I gave a short one sentence description and left short description blank.

    I left license blank.

File version I understand to be the version of my scenario, I started with 1.0.

I left home page and icon blank.

I was able to upload two files.

Of course I had to email the webmasters and get some directions – after I got the second logon & password, I was good to go.:)

  4. Earlier in the year I posted a scenario titled 1941 Operation Typhoon. It was my first attempt at a scenario and well, it was ok. I learned at lot, like not making the game too big.

Today I posted a new scenario, the Battle for Moscow. It’s the same historical scenario – the German drive for Moscow in 1941, but in this game I created a smaller map and reduced the number of units.

No surprises, just a straightforward slugfest. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Let me know how it plays!

  5. It is somewhat of an art, but I guess I really smart SC player could create a table to demonstrate the way I handle things.

Transports are faster so they spend less time at sea. But as countries increase amphibious warfare technology, the amphibious transport go faster.

Units embarked loose supply (an therefore combat capability) when embarked.

So, if I have a low amphibious tech level and want to invade Europe or Africa from the USA I might want to first stage using transport in a friendly port. But, if I want to gain strategic surprise I would embark my troops in amphibious transports in the USA for a direct assault across the Atlantic

Also, as my amphibious tech increase I’ll have more flexibility as my embarked troops will get to the beaches faster.

This is how I look at it when I make a decision.

  6. Rocko;

You will find that the Yamamoto is the strongest surface ship on the map!

I believe the USS Enterprise (CV-6) was with the Third Fleet, off the map, heading north to intercept the Japanese carriers.

    SeaMonkey;

I was discussing the proper assignment of victory conditions today. We’ll have a challenging game for you!

    Thanks for the input guys!

  7. Sombra,

Good catch – the Japanese did take all the blows. I think there are two things are at work here. One, I made the game historical - which does put the Japanese at a disadvantage. Second, I built the scenario - so I know how to take either side apart.

Your point is on target; I will remember this if I am ever asked to do an AAR again!

    Thank you for the feedback:).

  8. Battlefront;

You have a great community that supports your work; they have made some good comments.

You seem to be devoting time and effort to something that already works. Your ideas as originally presented seem “stale.:(” When I read your reasoning for not partnering with CMMODS, et al, I sensed “Big Brother:eek:.” I don’t think this is being handled well (small business, no Communications office – I get it;)).

To my original point, you want to accomplish something here, but I don’t know what it is. CMMODS, et al, supports the community today. You alluded to growth in the next few years, maybe you need to expand and explain more.

Thanks for the opportunity to contribute:)!

  9. Thanks for the answers guys!

I should have been more specific. I did mean a script event that would allow a modder to remove a certain unit at a certain time – lots of examples in ww2 where units were withdrawn from a theater or battle.

So, it looks like there is no work-around. I’ll just have to get creative.

  10. The Decision Event script module is great. Although they have limitations (what other piece of code does not) they are a first in gaming (at least for me).

Yes, the suggestions are good – they give the developers information for their next evolution of the decision events.

The issue presented that Decision Event script creation is complex, and just plain script writing in general is complicated, is something I agree with. I found two things that have helped me tremendously. One is to map out, or draw a flow chart, of the event to include supporting scripts. Plan before you write the script. Two, practice. I have gotten so much better since I first started.

I do have a recommendation. A graphical user interface for scripting would be helpful. But, I can image that project taking a lot of time, and I am not sure it is cost effective. But, maybe a scripting GUI would help reach a broader customer base.

    Great game, great script modules!

  11. Taking your comments in aggregate, I sense you feel the allies should experience war fatigue. If you agree with that very general summary, it would be interesting to see how that could be accomplished.

You make a good point about the Europeans (including Germany) being at war for too long not to have been effected by manpower drain and social deprivations. But the Americans, are they really susceptible to casualties in 1945 as the Europeans are? Looking for a comparison, I struggle to identify a period in my countries history that we really had to cope with massive casualties. Have you read the Wiki articles on the planned invasions of Japan. Its seems we were prepared to take on a lot more casualties – today in 2008 we are still handing out surplus Purple Hearts that were delivered in 1945 in that face of an invasion of Japan. Not sure, but I think I agree war fatigue would hit the Europeans at 6 or 7 years. Maybe the Americans would feel the same effects by 1947.

Good thoughts. I see the way forward is to suggest concrete ways for war fatigue to be manifested in PDE.

  12. Not sure Zeppelins are good for this scale.

Same with tanks, no separate unit needed for that. Maybe a tech level could be used to reflect the new armor technology.

Maybe add cavalry – low combat values.

I would increase the diplomatic chits and effectiveness of diplomacy. Italy, USA and Turkey all start the war neutral.

We are lucky to have that PDE map with Mexico – make sure we send Pershing out to get Poncho Villa!

The ethnic and political situation in the Balkans will make for some interesting decision or variable events.

When I was researching the Seelowe scenario I came across some information about British anti-invasion preparations. They kept a significant amount of the Army in the UK.

The naval aspects of this game have potential – no aircraft carries please. The surface warfare could be significant and submarine warfare will have a big impact.

During WWI Ireland was part of the UK, and the potential for rebellion was high.

As the war progressed, severe war strains in both Russia and Germany caused dissent and revolution at home. The French also had some serious problems with Army disipline.

Sounds fun, especially the historical research you mention. Check out John Keegan's book on WWI.

I am looking forward to seeing what decision events you create.
