Slow SC2 - unplayable

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I got severe SC2 WaW problems. Recently I installed SC2 WaW Bundle pack on my new Notebook. 'Course it got Vista (new is older then Windwos 7 :) )

Problem is that everything execpt SC2 Blitzkrieg runs slow. If I scroll it takes hours the screen to move where I scrolled. Units I clicked on respond 10 seconds later. SC2 Blitzkrieg on the other hand runs good. Little bit slow when rightcklicking but thats no big deal. Anything else is okay.

My old Windows Xp can run WaW and the PDE, PT demo without any problems though it has a weaker core, graficcard, RAM etc. thingy.

I really want to play WaW on my Notebook while I am travelling and I thought of buying PT but with not even the Demo running smoothly on it I think it would be wasted money.

I hope someone can help me.

Greetings Raijin,

Strategic Command fan since he saw it :)

If you go to 'Settings', is the 'Video Acceleration' enabled (blue light) ? This MIGHT help, but I'm not sure if there are other issues with Vista or what happening here. What resolution are you running SC2 WAW at, is it any different from SC2 Blitzkrieg ?

I don't know if it makes any difference, but what Service Pack do you have installed for Windows Vista ? You'll probably want Service Pack 2 if you do not have it installed already.

On occasion a video driver might be the culprit. What video chip and video driver version do you have on your notebook ?

Are you running your notebook with an external monitor attached ? If so, you'll probably want to disable the external monitor to play SC2 at normal speeds.

You may want to run the DirectX web update, though I'm not sure what sort of difference this may offer.

Resolutions are the same. Video Acceleration is off. Shall I turn it on?

How do I know if SP2 is installed? Normally I let every automatic update to be installed. I suppose SP2 should be installed.

Video chip? Do you mean "grafikkarte" in german? I got an Nvidia 9600M GS. Up to date driver. My older XP got a Radeon 1650x series. Up to date driver.

No external monitor.

I think I got DirectX10. Never installed anything else then x10.

I wrote my problem to the "panzerliga" website too but Terif couldnt help me there. He gave me almost the same help as you.

I am really at my wits end. (Is that english? ^^ )

Thank you for the help anyway Schrullenhaft.

Edit: The hell shall freeze. I just enabled the Video Acceleration and now I can play WaW without any problems. As if they were never there. This really does suck.
