And he'll have a bunch of surprises for ya!

We've saved up a few goodies/updates to release them all in one go for our large x-mas bundle. The updates are free and will be available via the auto-update feature of the game. (requires the full version)

The x-mas bundle will include four (!) new campaigns, one set of updated animations for the F4F Wildcat, and a WHOLE NEW PLANE: the Brewster Buffalo.

The four campaigns are:

Greece - Operation Marita: the last part of the German offensive in the Balkans

Crete - Operation Merkur: Germany's biggest and last airborne operation of the war (includes the new Buffalo aircraft)

Malta - Operation Herkules: The German plan to remove the threat of British based fighter aircraft being able to hinder the supply of Rommel's Afrika Korps.

Leyte Gulf - Operation Sho-Go: one of the greatest sea battles to ever take place.

The x-mas bundle is scheduled for release in the next few days.

By the way, a special "Thank you" to Ray Ardry (a.k.a. "Sixxkiller") for researching, loading the data and heading up the play testing on all of the campaigns being released in this x-mas bundle.

Ray was ably assisted in testing the new campaigns by Ron Alderdice (a.k.a. "Zonso") and John Mistura (a.k.a. "Mistura").

Thanks guys, for helping to make this possible.

Thanks guys - the Buffalo is a much maligned a/c - designed to the same specification that produced the F4F Wildcat it was selected by hte USN because of problems with hte initial Grumman product.

Commonwealth pilots at Singapore describe it as a lovely plane to fly, with superb manouvreability and better performance in some respects than the first Hurricanes (I've got a biography of a NZ Pilot who flew both a/c in combat smile.gif ).

However it was unsuitable for high altitude interception that was required at Singapore as it's performance dropped off rapidly above about 15,000 feet and there was no radar warning meaning the aircraft were always struggling to get to the bombers in time.

And of course the Finns used them to great effect too.

Later versions were weighed down with more armour, heavier guns and other equipment and unsurprisingly their performance was "less than optimal"!

Stalin did his homework. Finland did have about 20 of them and really did have success with it.
