Also from this 2002 report from Human Rights Watch
    https://www.hrw.org/sites/default/files/related_material/submunitions.pdf
these countries also produce 155mm munitions:

        Argentina
        Egypt
        Israel
        Pakistan

    Singapore produces 152mm shells.

Hi from Argentina, as far as I can tell we no longer produce 155mm, just last year production of 105mm was reactivated after a decade or so and probably at a very low rate; there are a few articles discussing the possibility of producing 155mm again giving it´s high demand, but couldn't find anything about the actual feasibility of doing it.

On one hand given the profound economic crisis here I wouldn't bet much on our production capacity, on the other hand we currently have as much a pro US government as you can ask from Latin America, maybe there is a deal to be made.

  2. Regarding Trump, hi from Latin America (Argentina) land of great football and sometimes populist egomaniacs...

I´ll just paste something I wrote in January of 2017 on another forum:

"Coming from a country with it´s fair share of populists in it´s history, let me tell you a couple of things about what will happen:

First: it´s not about policies, it´s not about facts, now it´s only about power and how to keep it

Second: the only thing that will be rewarded is loyalty, it may or may not align with skills, it doesn't matter any more

Third: it´s not about liberal and conservative, It´s not about democrat or republican, now it´s about trump or anti trump, there will be no middle ground to hide, both coalitions will have members of previous coalitions, those won´t matter much anymore, more republicans will be on Trump´s coalition because he was elected as one of course

Fourth: his only objective is reelection, and after that a third mandate, and a fourth and so on, to this end he will push any policy he deems useful, left wing or right wing, won´t matter, he sometimes will be align with former liberal/democrat ideas, he will take ownership of anything that promotes him, claiming it was his idea all along

Fifth: any source of check and balances will be targeted as traitorous, anti american, etc., this includes the press, other parties, the supreme court, whatever, anyone he sees as a member of the anti trump coalition is now a target, for now of rhetoric only, time will tell how far he will be allowed to go, and don´t think for a second there is something he won't do, or that he has any moral limit, he doesn't

Good luck trying to rationalize his government into anything other than an ego trip

His only weak point is succession, like every populists he hates the idea of giving power up, to anyone, even his children, he won´t groom a successor and get mad every time this point comes up

I sincerely hope current checks and balances work, but I´m not optimistic, lots of people will come under the spell, it´s tough times for anyone that can´t escape facts, reason, science, for those are now the enemies of the US government."

Not spot on in every point, but It came close to happen the first time around, now he has evolved and learned, it will be worst.

The paradox is that it was in the hands of Republican Senators to impeach and keep him out of office for good, they failed.

The interviewer says she is an Argentinian female volunteer. The accent looks a bit Argentinian, but it doesn't look particularly strong.

Yeah, when I watched it earlier the clip was shorter and didn’t include the interviewer speaking, at least for me, maybe some glitch.

I’ve read about a couple of argentinian volunteers but it is a rare thing and rarer still for a female fighting at the frontline I guess, assuming all this is true.

Well, now we have Latin American battalion "Bolivar" - the group of Columbian and Bolivian fighters has grew up with other nationalities ) Initially about platoon of these fighters was in composition of "Karpatska Sich" volunteer unit and our soldiers had very good opinion about their capabiities.

Two things, the person talking sounds like a girl (!) or maybe a teenager, the accent is Argentinian (or possible but less likely Uruguayan, the River Plate area accent sounds similar in both countries).

What happened to Carlsen? He got bored winning all the time and makes more via outline rapid. Good thing, he would would never have played a Russian anyway. I don't think he cares much for China and Ding either.

Magnus Carlsen indeed sort of grew bored with having to defend his title every two years, apparently he didn't like the format of the match (Probably he favors more rapid chess and less classical chess as he is usually even stronger than his opponents in rapid and blitz).

Carlsen will most likely remain the top ranked player for a good while if he chooses to keep playing at the top level.

  6. Hi, not military related, but here in Argentina we are experiencing a curious side effect of the war, an unusual influx of Russian women coming here to give birth, The Guardian even run a article in January about it:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/03/everyone-is-looking-for-options-russian-women-fly-to-argentina-to-give-birth

Some couples even decide to stay here for various reasons (the political situation in Russia, avoid mobilization, etc.).

Yesterday local authorities busted a criminal network charging thousand of dollars for quick permanent residence obtained by less than legal means lets say (not that obtaining residence here is that hard).

Not everyone wants to stay an enjoy the glorious future of the Russian Empire it seems, even if it means coming here an experience our 100% inflation rate...you`ll never get bored here!

The other thing I found myself wondering was why they didn't pull back and use that RPG or something else once they figured out the defenders were in dug in good and weren't going to give up easily.  Putting even an AT round through one of those windows would have probably caused more damage than the hand grenades.

Seeing the videos I was wondering why wouldn't they toss granades all at once from everywhere, but didn't think about the RPGs, maybe they save the RPGs for vehicles?

Can't remember if in CM you can make an infantry squads shoot AT4s or RPGs into buildings, Javelins I remember can be targeted at infantry.

  8. Do we know how this high ranking Russian officers are being killed?

    • Do they happen to walk into an artillery barrage?
    • Are they leading from the front "Willam Wallace Style"?
    • Is there an Ultra like level of intelligence and the capability to act on it in real time by the Ukrainian special ops/drones?

It is really something impressive to follow

  9. In "The Cav has arrived" mission the briefing states there should be mortar support (and artillery) from the start, the mortars are not there, at least in my playthrough

It is my impression that there are other instances of the briefing not being 100% correct regarding support and reinforcements, but I don't have a catalogue, it definitely deserves to be looked into, haven't seen discrepancies regarding initial force composition that I can recall

Also, is it even realistic to send a light infantry company on the offensive against a MR Brigade combat group? 😁, not complaining just asking if some poor officer could be tasked with this mission, I would resign on the spot

It is tough as hell, at least to my low level abilities

  10. If you want newer stuff to play around then buy CMBS, if you want more readily available stuff/formations (even if you don't buy it right away) then get CMSF2, I don't know if more modules and/or scenario packs are planned for CMBS.

The variety in CMSF2 has a strong appeal, it does feel different to play around with the bigger US marines platoons versus the relatively tiny 6 men platoons of the german army.

I don't own any of the WWII CM games, but CMBS is said to be the more lethal environment simulated by this games, maybe coming from WWII games CMSF2 won't be such a shock.

Personally I like CMBS a bit more, because the newer formations and the terrain and weather simulated, I really hope there will be modules produced for it, but maybe there is not enough interest.

  11. I don't own any of the WWII titles so I can't comment with any detail about those, but my guess is that CMBS have more variables to play with regardless of the size of the scenarios, given the modern technologies simulated (night vision, thermals, various drones, active defense systems on some vehicles, more guided weapons to go around, etc.), otherwise CMSF2 with all its modules provides a big array of different formations, but the cost is higher with all the bundles

It's true that CMBS is more unforgiving, after playing it for a while going back to CMSF2 feels much less lethal, at least playing blue forces against lesser quality red forces

If I have to pick one I would go with CMBS just for the newer stuff, you can still kind of simulate asymmetric (or more precisely somewhat less lethal) warfare by setting up a scenario that way, just not with unconventional forces like in CMSF2

If newer stuff is preferred then pick up CMBS, but if more stuff readily available is a priority and cost is not a problem, then go with CMSF2
