poesel
There are 3 scenarios for finding line of sight: 1) what points can this unit see? 2) from which points can I see this unit? 3) is there LOS between these points? 1) is solved with targeting from the unit. 3) is difficult as the height of source and target are unknown or had to be entered somehow. I'm not sure if that is something I would want to have in the game anyway. My proposal for 2) is quite simple: use the current camera viewpoint as source for the LOS determination. CPU load wise it would add one unit to the LOS computation which should be negligible. Then there is the issue of representing that information back to the user. One solution would be to add a key to toggle the view between 'show all' (as of now) and 'show only visible from here'. Other option would be to slightly change the icon if in LOS from viewpoint. IMHO that would help a lot, does only slightly change the UI and uses functions which are already in the program.
