stefanpi
Hi I like to use CloneCD's Virtual CloneDrive to eliminate cd noise and lags when playing games. But i noticed that when patch 1.03 is installed CMBB wants me to insert the CMBB2 cd-rom. Is there a solution to this? Btw thanks for a good troubleshooting guide i finally got cmbb to work with 1024x768 resolution. Thanks StefanPI
Panzertruppe
"Clone" cd's?............After 17 years of computer wargaming...I'll never understand why the pirates need to "steal" software or the "yuppies' need to make copies of the original game? Hundreds of games...and all my CD's(original) work just fine. [ September 02, 2003, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ]
Warren Peace
Panzertroupe I think you are being a bit harsh. I think there is nothing wrong with wanting to play the game without having to do the CD shuffle. In the mac world you can use Disk-Copy to make a CD-copy and it does exactly what Sefanpi wants. I realize that copy protection is important, but so is convenience.
stefanpi
I did buy the retail CMBB2, here is some text from the manual: -------------------------------------------- Fire Units on the battlefield constantly ... ... ... ... Combat Mission 2 51 --------------------------------------------- I know CloneCD is a softwarepirate's tool no #1 but i think its very convenient especially these days when harddrives up to 250GB are available. I got all games i frequently use as clonecd images on the drive (sub command, morrowind, bf1942, diablo, riven, redalert ...) and i have bought the original games. Well i just have to use my original CMBB2 cd. Also i always use my hotmail address on all public forums because of spam. Only people and companies i know are ok can have my real email address. Thanks anyway StefanPI [ September 02, 2003, 11:50 AM: Message edited by: stefanpi ]
Panzertruppe
I'm sorry....I have been PC wargaming since 1985. I see a game I want...I visit the website...maybe try the demo....purchase it...load it up.....and play whenever I want. I understand that the "simple" way of gaming is absolete..but with all the "piracy" today and things like "safe disk" are being added to software...well...what other solutions do companys have to prevent people from "stealing" software? The "pirates" are the ones to blame...not the publishers. Note....is it really that hard to put a CD in the drive and close it? If you put your bottled water down and your cell phone....it's very simple. stefanpi
Yes i agree that piracy is a problem and companies only try to protect their investments. I will use my original cmbb2 cd, its really not that much trouble.
