weeskwee
i have a voodoo 3 3000 with the latest drivers. a have also installed the 1.05 patch, as well as the 2 mad dog mod packs. during the tutorial mission, after a 60 second turn just completed, i decided to zoom in real close and move around the landscape to get a good lok at enemy placement. i noticed the tank treads on a tank were white. also, the fire animations on all the tanks were flickering white. then patches of land, and everything in that patch of land turned white. seconds later the whole screen was white. the command portion of the screen along the bottom was fine, all the sound effects still work. the game was still running, it just progressivly lost all visuals of the 3D portion of the game. any ideas why this suddenly happened?
Andy A
I,m afraid you have the same whiteout problem that has aflicted all us Voodoo3 owners mate. We can only hope 3dfx get the fix to us some time soon. All the best. ------------------ "They don't like it up em,Captain Mainwareing!"
weeskwee
great. guess i should have read this part of the message board before i went and spent $53 total to get this game. i do not imagine 3DFX will make this a priority, and i wonder if we will ever get a fix for it. the demo played fine, and i got 8 turns into the full game before it happened. argh!
Emthon
weewee: Same here. It is the notorious V3-xK driver problem. It is an admitted bug by 3dfx. I am about to pull the trigger on a geforce2-mx purchase. <groan> I just came back to the forum to see if anyone was having problems with the GF2-mx. Hope not.... Guest Big Time Software
One thing that sometimes helps is to run CM at a lower screen resolution. I'll be sure to keep you posted about any information coming back from 3Dfx about a fix. Charles
Emthon
Ho-hum...I got tired of waiting and decided to get the GeForce2-MX. Since I wanted to have a processor that matched the power of the MX, I decided to get a Cel2-566. Overclocked, of course! I am still gelling the system and will give a more complete story this evening. I have the Cel2 stable at 890 mhz. I am trying to push it into the 935 mhz realm. I need to do the bios trick to get my voltage to the cpu at > 1.75. Anyway, got tired of waiting on 3dfx and took the nvidia plunge. I have been a 3dfx diehard since the days of the Voodoo 1 card. So sad.... L8r, Em
Stahl
I tried lowering my resolution from 1024 X 768 to 800 X 600 and that did seem to solve the problem. Prior to that I was experiencing the white out bug about every two turns. It happened whether during the orders phase or the resulting movie phase and proved to be quite annoying. Of course, I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP card.
