BillyR
Just upgraded my computer and am going through the process of reinstalling everything. I installed my Gamersgate version of Combat Mission Shock Force. Then downloaded and installed the GamersGate 1.10 patch (all Inclusive). Then downloaded and installed CM:SF Marines. I then get the error : CM Shock Force.exe - Application Error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to Terminate the application. Any ideas? System is WIndows XP SP3 4GB DDR2 RAM Intel Quad Core 2.33GHz nVidia 8800GT OC2 512MB **EDIT** MEANT TO SAY WHen I do click OK, it then shows the message a second time. Clicking on OK again does get rid of it.
BillyR
I have just tried adding the CMSF.EXE to the DEP list and now, although I do not get the message, I do not get anything...it doesn't load at all...not even an error now.
BillyR
Sorted. Turned on DEP for all Essential Windows Apps, rebooted and it was fine. However, I'm pretty sure that setting messes with a couple of other games that I have (good to know!?)...I'll see. I'm certain this setting was switched off and I was able to turn it on for selected apps (including CMSF) and it worked previously!
Moon
Unfortunately DEP is a very badly documented function, and badly implemented with many CPUs and operating systems as well. It causes a lot more crashes and weird error messages to people's computer's than most are aware of.
Jim Moreno
Aye. I'm getting this same error message. What is DEP, and how do I turn it on?
Jim Moreno
OK, scratch that, got it fixed. Now it's not accepting my license key...
