Mission Editor and 64bit Vista

Hi, I was about to buy TOW when I noticed the following message

"Windows Vista 64bit: Due to an incomparability between Vista 64 bit and Theater of War, the Mission Editor will NOT function in Vista 64 bit."

I was wondering has this been fixed in any of the patches?

Since I have a Laptop with win32 Can I run the Mission editor there? Or does that require a liscene also?

Will this issue be addressed in TOW2?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi!

This incompatibility has not been fixed in the patches. It can't be fixed, really, because the editor is using various code libraries that are not supported in Vista 64 bit (as opposed to the Vista 32 bit version). Many people undererstimate the differences between 64 and 32 bit Operating Systems and just think that they are getting "something better", but there are fundamental differences which are not always "better" at all.

I am not even sure if the editor runs with or without license. It may well work without. However, when you buy a game, you can activate it with your license key on two computers at the same time. So you could run the game on your main PC and the laptop at the same time either way, no problem.

We don't yet know if TOW2 editors will work on 64 bit systems.
