Crash fix seems to work for me so far.

WIN XP SP2

Was having the lockups everyone else is describing.

AVG antivirus was detecting the shock force.exe as a win32/heur trojan, so I deleted AVG and the game has been playing several hours without a hiccup.

I had tried all of the fixes on this page, and the AMD CPU driver was the only one which seemed to work, or at least not make things worse.

The CPU optimizer and MS hotfix seemed to cause the game to lockup faster. Setting the affinity seemed to have no effect either.

Before I got rid of AVG, selecting the shockforce.exe properties window would take a long time to load. It would then have all these MS-DOS compatability tabs on it. After the delete they went away and it functions normally.

This has worked for me, YMMV.
