Demo not starting

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I downloaded the games demo but it won't start up.

When I click the shortcut, I get the Crazy house and IDDK logos, then a blurb on the game with the 'purchase now' and 'purchase later' options. Since I want to try the game before buying I click purchase later, but nothing happens. :(

Any help please?

Hi,

(Good luck on getting an answer from... SUPPORT?)

Since the game demo is so small, I would simply recommend completely unistalling and reinstalling.

Make sure your DirectX is updated AFTER the install. Just go to the MS site and find the update link for DirectX.

Also, there are multiple 'startup' links for the game. Before you do anything you may want to make sure you are clicking the right one.

The 'symptom' you mention usually occurs after you open the 'configurator' shortcut. Make sure you are clicking the 'Launch T-72' shortcut.

Be prepared to read the manual so you can tweak settings. This game is really 'green' in regards to optimization. You may need to do a little Google'ing, too.

Good luck (and try not to get frustrated).

EDIT:

BTW, taken from another post...

"BTW, aleader, support exists, and we’re regularly checking the forums, just not every day and even less so on weekends. For urgent support questions, we have a support email address under support@battlefront.com.

You might want to look around here to see what is mentioned about DivX, and in the manual, too. I believe you should have that 'current', also.

If its jumping immeditately to the Purcahse screen the problem is either a missing DiXV codec needs to be installed or you have the MMSwitch codec installed on your system somewhere and it needs to be disabled.

Each issue is easy to fix.

First, lets update your DIVX codecs. Just go to http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/ and download the DivX Codec pack.

Next do a search on your computer for this file MMswitch.ax, if you find it, delete or rename it (Its an old codec that is not really used anymore).

That should do the trick.
