Urals Industry - What is It?

Recommended Posts

This was something we experimented with using SC1. Basically, Smolensk and Kharkov served as triggers for a +50 MPP industry transfer, with a 25% chance per turn of the effect being implemented after either of the trigger cities is captured by the Axis. A reverse effect took place after the industry transfer occurs and both cities are under Russian control, again with a 25% chance per turn delay, where the USSR stopped getting the +50 MPPs and the US started getting them. Like reduced Murmansk Convoys and Lend Lease. This seemed to help the Russians when they needed it, and then helped the USA later when they needed it.

The Urals industry transfer part should be offered, probably as an option for an Axis handicap. With all of the flexibility of the new military production model in SC2, this may not be critical. The reverse effect won't be necessary at all since USA will have control over lend lease amounts and can scale them back whenever they want to. Anyway, that's the basic idea.

I'm assuming that the event scripting we'll have access to will allow us to write our own interesting events like this. You can see from the above example how something like this can help provide better play balance with some historical flavor, rather than just tweaking at-start MPPs with bids or whatever. Much nicer.

Also, numbers like the +50 could be further modified by game settings, like Intermediate only gets +25 and Expert only gets +0. Hang on for all the possibilities in store!! ;)

By this I assume that players can tie scripts to Game Settings - Expert AI: IF Germany Attacks Sweden then Spanish Alliance % Increases
