Description: "Operation Overlord", the Allied invasion of Fortress Europe is beginning. The US 1st Infantry Division ("The Big Red One") is spearheading the US V Corps assault at "Dog Green" on the US beachhead code named "Omaha". The 716th Wehrmacht Infantry Division is defending this area of the coast from their static positions of concrete pillboxes and obstacles. Unbeknownst to Omar Bradley (commander of the US V Corps) the 716th has also been joined by the 352nd Infantry Division, more than doubling the opposition V Corps had expected to face. With the added support of the 352nd, these two Wehrmacht divisions turned Omaha Beach into a fiery cauldron of death, securing for Omaha Beach the nickname "Bloody Omaha". ------------------ wako "All models are wrong - some are useful.'' - George E.P.
