The Oak
As far as I know, Arty spotters still have to dismount in CMBB before they can call for fire. It would be nice to allow them to call for fire while in a SdKfz 250 or Kubelwagen. A Panzerbeobachtungswagen III or Panther would have been nice as well, as I hate having to dismount my observers, or having to expose them to small arms fire. Cameroon
Here's an interesting tidbit I stumbled upon while playing. An HQ unit spotting for mortars/mortar halftracks CAN be in a halftrack/kubelwagon/jeep/whatever. Granted that makes them a bigger, more tasty target, but hey, whatcha gonna do? Not the same thing and all, but handy none-the-less.
The Oak
In regards to using leaders as mortar FOs: Have you tried buying a platoon of Pz IIIs, deleting all the tanks save the PL, then using the tank as a Panzer Beob Wg III? WWB
Does not work--the mortar HTs listen only to infantry HTs. WWB
The Oak
Does anyone know why the spotters must dismount before they can call for fire? If not a Pz Beob Wg III, I was hoping to have mine sit in his 250 and let some rounds fly....

The Oak
I know he has to get out, my question was whether that's intentional in the game. There shouldn't be a reason why a spotter has to dismount to call for fire.
Michael Emrys
Agreed. It has something to do with the game engine. Troops can't fire from vehicles either, which is also somewhat unrealistic. Michael
