I was just wondering if any of the various Feldherrnalle formations would be in, as the mainly fought on the Eastern Front, and distinguished themselves many times. Andreas Posted January 23, 2002 Share Posted January 23, 2002 My understanding is that these were ordinary Heer formations, in some cases rebuilt units that had been destroyed earlier, e.g. 13. PD having been destroyed in Romania ended up being PD Feldherrnhalle 2, to be finally destroyed in Budapest. The Red Army must have felt like they were in a bad Zombie movie... Tiny Posted January 24, 2002 Author Share Posted January 24, 2002 They were mainly drawn from SA sources so were you would say less 'glamourous' than their SS counterparts, and yes many 'destroyed' formations were integrated into them. But they were not normal Heer formations, they always recieved high class troops and equipment. There is a very good history of the Feldherrnhalle units.
