Kozure
Hi all, I was in the process of installing CM:AK on my brand new system, but an error message came up on the installing saying that it was unable to read 00005010.exe and english.exe I hit ignore, and it finished installing, but I have to assume that those files didn't copy and expand properly. I looked at the disk when I took it out of the drive and I noticed that it's got some scratches which don't seem to clean off. Like a dummy, I had never made a back-up of the disk. Can anyone tell me what was in 00005010.exe and english.exe - can I just get the expanded versions of those files and copy them to the correct directory? Please help - I was in the middle of a PBEM Ortona campaign with Grog Dorosh and he will rain pestilence down upon me if I don't get a turn back to him soon. I've still got CM:AK installed on my (mothballed) old computer, so I could copy the extracted files from there to my new one... all I need to know is what was in those two files which didn't copy correctly. Thanks in advance...
junk2drive
Did you turn off / disable your anti virus before installing? Try installing the patch, maybe it will overwrite the exe files.
Kozure
Yes I did. It's definitely a read error from the CD. I'll try copying the entire contents of the installed game from the old drive to the new. They were installed to identical install directories - hopefully that'll work.
Kozure
Welp... I copied the contents of the old installed version (on the old computer) over the new files (bad install on the new). It seems to have worked. I've run a few quick battles and everything seems to be working. I'll try to continue my PBEM campaign with Dorosh - hopefully it will work out.
